BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A fire broke out at a vacant lot behind Mandiri 24/7 Car Wash on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Pemogan, South Denpasar, in the early hours of Thursday (June 18, 2026), prompting a large-scale response from the Denpasar City Fire Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. local time. Firefighters received a report from residents at around 2:45 a.m. stating that bushes were on fire in the Suwung Kauh area of Pemogan.

According to Wiwin, a member of the Denpasar City Fire Department, firefighters rushed to the scene only to discover that the fire was not burning shrubs as initially reported, but rather a pile of demolition debris and scrap materials located on a vacant lot.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had spread across four separate points within the pile of building demolition materials,” Wiwin said.

A total of six fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze. Firefighters faced challenges due to poor visibility, as the area was dark and no landowner or owner of the demolition materials was present at the scene.

Crews worked for nearly three hours before successfully bringing the fire under control at 5:40 a.m.

Authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries resulting from the incident. The fire only destroyed piles of scrap and leftover materials from a demolished structure.

The extent of material losses has yet to be determined, as neither the owner of the land nor the owner of the demolition debris could be identified at the scene.

Officials also confirmed that the burned materials consisted solely of building demolition remnants stored on the vacant lot. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
