BADUNG, BALINEWSID.COM – Belgian-inspired cuisine has officially arrived in Seminyak with the opening of Frifri Fresh Fries, a new eatery offering authentic Belgian-style fries made primarily from locally sourced Indonesian ingredients.

Located on Jalan Raya Seminyak No. 37, the restaurant celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Owner Randi Setiadi said the concept is inspired by the traditional Belgian way of preparing and serving fries while embracing fresh local produce.

According to Randi, all of the shop’s signature products are homemade, from preparation to serving. The fries are cut and cooked using techniques that reflect the distinctive characteristics of authentic Belgian fries.

Although the concept is rooted in Belgian culinary traditions, most of the ingredients come from Indonesia. The potatoes, for example, are sourced from Bedugul, Bali, an area well known for its high-quality agricultural products.

“Even though our style is Belgian, our ingredients are local. Our potatoes come from Bali, specifically Bedugul,” Randi said.

He explained that Frifri Fresh Fries distinguishes itself through its hand-cut potatoes, fresh preparation process, and unique cooking techniques, offering an alternative to the frozen fries commonly found in the market.

Randi believes that using locally sourced ingredients does not compromise authenticity or quality. Instead, he emphasized that excellent products are created through proper preparation and craftsmanship.

“Local ingredients are excellent. As long as we know how to process them properly, they can produce the best results,” he added.

In addition to its signature Belgian fries, the restaurant also serves a selection of Belgian-inspired snacks, including Chuchu Belgian Waffle, beef bitterballen, and chicken croquettes.

One of its featured menu items is a 275-gram medium serving of Belgian fries, priced at Rp65,000, excluding tax and additional service charges.

Randi said Seminyak was chosen as the location because of its strong tourism appeal and high visitor traffic, making it one of Bali’s premier tourist destinations.

However, he stressed that the restaurant is not exclusively targeting international visitors. Frifri Fresh Fries also aims to introduce authentic Belgian-style cuisine to the local Indonesian market.

“Our target is not only tourists but also local customers. We want to introduce genuine Belgian-style products that can be enjoyed by the local community,” he said.

Frifri Fresh Fries is Randi’s latest culinary venture, combining Belgian fries and Belgian waffles under one roof. He previously established Chuchu Belgian Waffle, which currently operates two outlets in the Legian and Jalan Padmaareas.

The restaurant employs approximately 12 staff members and operates 24 hours a day. Its made-to-order concept ensures that customers receive freshly prepared fries every time they order.

Randi is optimistic that the business has strong growth potential in Bali, noting that restaurants specializing exclusively in Belgian fries remain relatively rare on the island.

“I see that this concept is still very limited in Bali. That’s why I believe there’s a great opportunity, and I decided to pursue it,” he said.

During the grand opening celebration, held from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), visitors were invited to sample a variety of menu items free of charge, including Belgian fries, Belgian waffles, bitterballen, chicken croquettes, and selected beverages.

The event welcomed both invited guests and members of the public passing by the venue. The complimentary tasting program was available exclusively during the grand opening celebration.

Randi hopes Frifri Fresh Fries will become more than just another dining destination in Bali, serving as a gateway for both tourists and locals to experience authentic Belgian-inspired cuisine while showcasing the quality of locally sourced Balinese ingredients. (*)
