Teenager, 15, Arrested in Bali With 98.80 Grams of Methamphetamine

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Bali Police’s Narcotics Directorate has arrested a 15-year-old teenager identified by the initials AAN, who is suspected of acting as a drug courier and carrying 98.80 grams of methamphetamine in West Denpasar.

The arrest was carried out by the Operational Team of Unit 2, Sub-Directorate 1, Bali Police Narcotics Directorate, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at around 7 p.m. local time.

Bali Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Ariasandy said officers arrested AAN on the roadside of Jalan Teuku Umar, in front of Hiztory Store, West Denpasar. The operation followed information from members of the public regarding suspected drug trafficking activities.

The team, led by First Inspector Komang Widarsana, conducted an investigation before approaching AAN after officers became suspicious of his movements.

During a search witnessed by local residents, officers allegedly found one package containing 98.80 grams of methamphetamine in the storage compartment of AAN’s white Honda Beat motorcycle.

The suspected drugs were wrapped in black adhesive tape and placed inside a plastic bag.

During preliminary questioning, AAN reportedly told investigators that he had been instructed by an individual identified by the initial B to collect the drugs through a “drop-off” or “sticker” system, in which the location of the package is provided without a direct meeting.

Police said the identity of B was stored in AAN’s WhatsApp contacts.

In addition to the suspected methamphetamine, officers seized a light-blue Samsung Galaxy A04e smartphone and the white Honda Beat motorcycle allegedly used by AAN.

AAN is currently being held at the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate. As he is only 15 years old, the legal process will be carried out in accordance with Indonesia’s Juvenile Criminal Justice System Law.

Investigators are continuing to develop the case in an effort to identify and apprehend the person allegedly responsible for instructing AAN to collect the drugs.

Commissioner Ariasandy stressed that the case has raised serious concern because a minor is suspected of being used as a drug courier.

“We urge parents to pay closer attention to their children’s social environment and activities,” Ariasandy said.

Bali Police also called on members of the public to report suspected drug trafficking to the nearest police station or through the police emergency call center at 110. Police said the confidentiality and safety of informants would be protected.

Bali Police reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm action against drug trafficking networks without exception.
