Head of the Denpasar Fire and Rescue Service, I Made Tirana, said the fire involved four blocks of scrap warehouses owned by local residents.
The incident was reported by residents on Tuesday (April 14) at approximately 1:28 p.m. local time. The fire broke out in a densely active area in Pesanggaran.
The affected warehouse owners were identified as Warnoto (43), Dedi Darma (19), Suminto (56), and Andi Sumarno (55), each owning separate warehouse blocks from the southern to the northern section of the site.
Fire officials stated that the cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Meanwhile, the owners have yet to determine the total losses resulting from the incident.
“The burned area is estimated to cover approximately 10 are,” said Tirana.
In response to the fire, the Denpasar Fire and Rescue Service deployed all available support posts, including eight fire engines and three rescue units. The operation also involved personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), Pertamina rescue teams, one unit from Pelindo, and heavy equipment in the form of an excavator from the Bali Provincial Public Works Agency.
Firefighters worked intensively to extinguish the flames and conduct cooling efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby areas. As of this report, the situation at the scene has been brought under control.
Authorities have urged the public not to easily trust unverified information, particularly on social media, and to promptly report emergencies to the relevant agencies.
