BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — A 47-year-old British national identified by the initials M.M.N.D. has been deported from Indonesia after he was detained during an immigration patrol in Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Bali, where he was reportedly seen deliberately revving his motorcycle in the middle of the operation.

M.M.N.D. was deported through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Friday, September 11, 2026, after spending 12 days at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.

The case began on Thursday night, August 27, when immigration officers detained M.M.N.D. during a patrol in the Tibubeneng area. The operation was directly led by Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko.

A subsequent investigation by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office found that M.M.N.D. had committed a more serious immigration violation. His residence permit had expired on October 27, 2025.

By the time he was examined on August 28, 2026, he had overstayed his permit by 305 days.

M.M.N.D. told immigration officers that he had applied to extend his residence permit through an immigration service agency. However, the process had not been completed.

Authorities imposed immigration administrative measures under Article 75 Paragraph (1) and Article 78 Paragraph (3) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.

Article 75 Paragraph (1) was applied because his actions were considered to have disrupted public order, while Article 78 Paragraph (3) applies to foreigners whose residence permits have expired for more than 60 days.

As a result, M.M.N.D. was ordered to be deported and placed under an entry ban.

Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Head Teguh Mentalyadi said the handling of the case had been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.

“Every foreign national staying in Indonesia is required to comply with all applicable immigration regulations. We ensure that every stage, from handling the case to repatriation, is carried out according to established procedures while maintaining a humane approach,” Teguh said.

After completing the required administrative procedures and deportation requirements, M.M.N.D. was flown from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to his final destination, London Heathrow International Airport in the United Kingdom.

With his deportation, immigration authorities declared the handling of M.M.N.D.’s case in Indonesia complete.

Teguh said the deportation demonstrated Indonesia’s firm enforcement of immigration laws and served as a warning to other foreign nationals to comply with Indonesian regulations.

Regarding the entry ban, Teguh explained that Article 102 of Law No. 6 of 2011 allows foreign nationals to be barred from entering Indonesia for between five and 10 years. In serious cases involving threats to national security or public order, the ban can also be imposed for life.

The length of the entry ban, however, remains under the authority of the Directorate General of Immigration and will be determined after considering all relevant facts and circumstances of the case.
