BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Violations of waste disposal regulations were once again discovered at the TPA Suwung on Thursday (May 14, 2026), as several self-managed garbage trucks were caught dumping mixed waste despite the Bali Provincial Government’s daily waste-type scheduling policy.
Under the schedule in effect on Thursday, only organic waste was permitted to enter the landfill. However, field observations showed several trucks arriving with loads that appeared to be dominated by organic material.
Suspicion arose during the unloading process when excavators began removing the top layer of waste. Officers then discovered piles of plastic waste and other inorganic materials hidden at the bottom of the truck containers.

The method is suspected to have been intentionally used to deceive inspection officers at the landfill entrance. Plastic and inorganic waste were allegedly placed underneath and covered with organic waste so the loads would appear compliant with the day’s disposal regulations.
One self-managed truck driver, identified as Sida, admitted that he had transported mixed waste to the landfill despite knowing that only organic waste was allowed that day.
“Yes, it is mixed,” Sida said briefly when questioned at the site.
When asked whether he was aware of the organic-only disposal schedule, Sida acknowledged that he knew about the regulation.
“Yes, I knew,” he said.
However, when asked why he still disposed of mixed waste, Sida declined to provide further explanation.

He nevertheless promised that in the future he would begin separating waste in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The discovery highlights ongoing weaknesses in compliance among some waste transport operators toward the waste-sorting management system currently being implemented by the Bali Provincial Government at Suwung Landfill.
