BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – Police in South Kuta have arrested a 20-year-old man identified by the initials FB, from Jakarta, who is suspected of assaulting a 22-year-old man, EA, from Blitar, using a broken glass bottle.

The incident occurred at Maya Loka Residence II in Bualu, Benoa Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali, at around 5:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The case was reported to the South Kuta Police under Police Report No. LP/B/85/VII/2026/SPKT/UNIT RESKRIM/POLSEK KUTA SELATAN/POLRESTA DENPASAR/POLDA BALI, dated July 18, 2026.

According to the victim’s statement, the incident began when EA contacted a woman through the MiChat application at around 5 a.m. After communicating with her, he went to a location shared through the application’s location-sharing feature.

Upon arriving, EA entered a room where the woman allegedly requested an upfront payment of Rp400,000. Because sexual intercourse had not taken place, the victim reportedly negotiated to pay only half the amount as a down payment.

EA then paid Rp200,000. However, after receiving the money, the woman allegedly asked him to leave the premises.

The victim reportedly refused to leave because he believed he had not received the service that had been agreed upon. An argument subsequently broke out between EA and the woman.

The situation reportedly escalated when another woman arrived and asked the victim to leave. EA claimed he was kicked during the incident. Shortly afterward, an unidentified man allegedly arrived and attacked him with a broken glass bottle.

The victim managed to flee toward Maya Loka Road, where an online motorcycle taxi driver reportedly came to his assistance and took him to receive medical treatment.

As a result of the attack, EA suffered multiple lacerations, including injuries to his left cheek, upper forehead, the back of his head on both the right and left sides, the right side of his neck, and the left side of his waist.

Following the report, an operational team from the South Kuta Police, led by Criminal Investigation Unit Chief IPTU Wayan Widiartha, S.H., M.H., along with operational personnel, visited the scene and questioned the victim.

Police also secured CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspected attacker. After obtaining a description of the suspect, officers conducted a search in several locations, including the Gelogor Carik area.

FB was eventually arrested at a boarding house in Gelogor Carik at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.

Police subsequently continued their investigation to locate the weapon allegedly used in the assault. Officers later recovered a broken glass bottle believed to have been used to injure the victim.

FB was taken, along with the evidence, to the South Kuta Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings.

During the initial investigation, FB allegedly admitted to assaulting the victim with a glass bottle, causing multiple lacerations.

Police also revealed that FB is related to two women who were present at the scene. He is reportedly the cousin of one of the women.

Police said the preliminary motive for the alleged assault was a dispute over payment following a booking made through the MiChat application.

FB is being investigated under Article 466 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning assault.

Police have seized the broken glass bottle as evidence. The case remains under investigation by the South Kuta Police.
