Made Daging’s Legal Team Reports Bali Police Special Crimes Unit to Professional Standards Division over Alleged Obstruction of Police Report

Deputy Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Bali Regional Police, AKBP Chandra C. Kesuma.

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – The legal team representing Made Daging has reportedly filed a complaint with the Indonesian National Police’s Professional and Security Division (Propam) against members of the Bali Regional Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus). The complaint concerns an alleged attempt to prevent their client from filing a police report with the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) at Bali Regional Police Headquarters.

Responding to the matter, Deputy Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Bali Regional Police, AKBP Chandra C. Kesuma, said he had not received official information regarding the complaint and had so far only seen reports about it on social media.

Chandra made the statement when speaking to reporters in the lobby of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate’s office on Saturday, October 17, 2026, following a press conference on the alleged misuse of government-subsidized fuel.

“If the person concerned has submitted a letter to Propam, then Propam will conduct the clarification process. We will wait for that process,” Chandra said.

He explained that he was not directly involved in the operational handling of the case and therefore could not provide detailed information about the substance of Made Daging’s complaint.

According to Chandra, technical questions concerning the handling of the case should be directed to the officials responsible for the matter within Ditreskrimsus. He added that he had not received authorization from his superiors to provide further comments on the allegations.

Alleged Obstruction of Police Report

The dispute arose after Made Daging’s side raised concerns about alleged difficulties encountered when attempting to file a police report with Ditreskrimum at Bali Regional Police Headquarters.

Through his legal representatives, Made Daging reportedly lodged a complaint with Propam against members of Ditreskrimsus, alleging that his right to submit a police report had not been properly facilitated.

The allegations raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the attempted filing, including the chronology of events, the procedures followed by officers, and the reasons behind the reported difficulties.

As of Chandra’s statement, Ditreskrimsus had not provided a substantive explanation regarding the incident. No findings from a Propam examination had been announced to establish whether any procedural violations had occurred.

Bali Police Await Further Clarification

Asked about reports that Made Daging’s legal team also intended to bring the matter to the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta, Chandra said any further proceedings would follow the applicable procedures if a formal complaint had been submitted.

He reiterated that he was not yet in a position to provide a detailed response to the allegations of obstruction.

“If Propam conducts a clarification process, we will follow the process and comply with the applicable legal procedures,” he said.

The case has raised questions about access to police reporting procedures and the handling of complaints by law enforcement officers. Clarification from Made Daging’s legal team, Ditreskrimsus, Ditreskrimum, and Propam will be important in establishing the sequence of events and determining whether the procedures for receiving police reports were properly followed.

Until official clarification or findings are issued, the alleged obstruction remains an allegation and should not be treated as an established procedural violation.
