BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Bali-based reggae musician Anak Agung Junni Antara, better known as Joni Agung, joined the Bali Journalists Solidarity (SJB) in a fundraising campaign for victims of the Flores earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at the Car Free Day area around Renon Field, Denpasar, on Sunday (Aug. 23, 2026).
The humanitarian campaign was organized by SJB, a coalition involving journalists from various organizations and members of the public concerned about press freedom and humanitarian issues.
During the campaign, journalists carried donation boxes bearing the message “Pray For Flores” and approached residents participating in the weekly Car Free Day activities. People who were exercising, holding family events and even people with disabilities contributed voluntarily to the fundraising effort.
The campaign collected Rp3.112 million in donations, according to Marsellus N. Pampur, coordinator of the Bali Journalists Solidarity campaign for Flores earthquake victims.
“Thank you very much to everyone who has made the effort to take part in this social action. Let us remain united,” Marsellus said.
He said the response demonstrated strong public concern in Bali for residents affected by the earthquake in Flores.
“The people of Bali have shown great concern over this disaster. This concern has come from various sections of society,” he said.
The fundraising event was also enlivened by Joni Agung, who performed several of his popular songs, including “Ngalih Liang,” “Iri Ci” and “Berdanska.” He also invited members of the public to sing along and participate in the charity event.
Following the event, Joni Agung expressed his support for efforts to help communities affected by the disaster in NTT. He said collective action was important to help survivors recover from the impact and trauma of the earthquake.
“Everyone in Bali has also started moving together to help,” Joni said.
He urged Indonesians not to allow differences to divide them when disasters strike, stressing that victims from any region are fellow citizens who deserve support.
“When our brothers and sisters are affected by a disaster, we should help one another and stand together,” he said.
Joni also called on the public to protect the environment and avoid activities that could contribute to environmental damage, including deliberately setting fires.
The musician is known for participating in humanitarian activities and performing without payment to support social causes. In addition to his music career, he is involved with the Temanmu Peduli Bangsa Foundation, which supports social and environmental initiatives, including disaster relief fundraising and mangrove conservation efforts.
Sunday’s campaign was the second fundraising action organized by SJB. The group had previously collected donations on Saturday (Aug. 22) along Jalan Dewi Sri–Nakula in Kuta, Badung.
Marsellus expressed hope that the donations collected from the public would provide practical assistance and help ease the burden faced by earthquake survivors in Flores.
“We hope the donations given by the people of Bali can help ease the burden experienced by the people of Flores, NTT,” he said.
