NATIONAL, BNEWS.ID –  A proud achievement has been secured by Dukuh Penaban Tourism Village in Karangasem Regency, Bali. The culture-based tourism village was named National Champion (First Place) at the Wonderful Indonesia Awards (WIA) 2025, organized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.

The prestigious award was presented during the official award ceremony held in Jakarta on Friday, December 5, 2025. Dukuh Penaban was crowned Indonesia’s Best Cultural-Based Tourism Village, outperforming various tourism villages from across the country.

Through an official post on its social media accounts, the Ministry of Tourism expressed appreciation to all award recipients.

“Congratulations to all winners of the Wonderful Indonesia Awards 2025 in the Tourism Village category. From green villages and nature-based tourism to cultural destinations, all prove that villages are not merely travel destinations, but also spaces for learning, healing, and growth,” the Ministry stated.

Dukuh Penaban’s success is seen as a strong testament to the vital role of villages in preserving, nurturing, and developing local cultural potential as a foundation for sustainable tourism. The village is widely recognized for its consistency in highlighting local wisdom, traditional customs, and community life as authentic tourism experiences.

This achievement also marks an important momentum in strengthening Karangasem Regency’s position as a leading cultural destination in Bali, offering distinctive cultural character and unique tourism appeal amid intense competition among national tourism destinations. (*)
