BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – An incident involving alleged bullying of a junior high school student in Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung, which went viral on social media, has been peacefully resolved through a family mediation process facilitated by local police, community leaders, and customary authorities.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, June 5, 2026, at around 11:00 a.m. WITA at Wantilan Quari, Jimbaran Traditional Village, Jalan Wanagiri, South Kuta, Badung. The case gained public attention after a video went viral on social media on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m. WITA, showing the alleged bullying.
The victim, identified by the initials IGDA (13), a male student, was reportedly involved in the incident with several other minors identified as HA (14), IPTAP (14), KGDP (14), IGPM (13), AB (15), and IKJAP (13).
Following the viral circulation of the video, the South Kuta Police Sector (Polsek Kuta Selatan), together with community leaders and the Jimbaran customary leader, held a mediation session on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. WITA. The meeting took place at the residence of the Jimbaran customary leader at Jl. Bukit Permai No. 1, Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung.
The mediation was attended by AKP I Wayan Dirga Adnyana (Head of Intelligence Unit, Polsek Kuta Selatan), IPTU I Wayan Widiarta, S.H., M.H. (Head of Criminal Investigation Unit), the Jimbaran Village Head I Wayan Kardiasa, S.Sos, community leader Dr. I Made Sudira, S.H., M.H., who is also a member of the Badung Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), customary leader Jro Bendesa Adat Jimbaran I Putu Subamia, as well as parents of both the victim and the alleged perpetrators.
During the meeting, police emphasized that the case should be resolved through a restorative justice approach based on mutual agreement between both parties.
“The matter is agreed to be resolved amicably, provided that the victim and the victim’s parents accept the apology, and all involved students sign a written statement, apologize sincerely, and promise not to repeat their actions,” said a representative of the South Kuta Police.
The victim’s parents expressed hope that such incidents would not happen again, emphasizing that the behavior should not be considered mere joking, especially as all parties live in the same community. They also expressed a desire for the children to return to being friends in a positive environment.
Meanwhile, the parents of the alleged perpetrators apologized to the victim and his family, and encouraged their children to sincerely apologize and rebuild good relations.
Community leader Dr. I Made Sudira appreciated the mediation process and emphasized the importance of strengthening supervision of children’s behavior both at school and within the community.
