BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Bali has once again cemented its reputation as one of the world’s premier travel destinations after being named the World’s Best Destination 2026 in the Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations 2026 by Tripadvisor. The prestigious international recognition further reinforces the Island of the Gods as a leading global tourism hub, celebrated not only for its breathtaking natural beauty but also for its world-class hospitality and exceptional visitor experiences.
The award, based on millions of reviews and ratings submitted by travelers from around the world, placed Bali ahead of internationally renowned destinations such as London, Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome. The achievement reflects consistently high levels of visitor satisfaction, driven by Bali’s spectacular landscapes, rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and ever-evolving tourism attractions.
Bali’s global success also mirrors the growing quality of Indonesia’s luxury hospitality sector. This is reflected in the recommendations released by the Bali Tourism Journalists Alliance (AJIP Bali), which named eight of Indonesia’s finest beach resorts for 2026 in recognition of hospitality operators that consistently deliver outstanding service while promoting sustainable tourism.
The eight recommended resorts are The Legian Seminyak Bali, Ta’aktana, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa Labuan Bajo, NIHI Sumba, The Ritz-Carlton Bali, Regent Bali Canggu, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, Jumeirah Bali, and Desa Potato Head Bali. Most of the selected properties are located in Bali, highlighting the island’s continued dominance as Indonesia’s leading luxury tourism destination.
AJIP Bali Coordinator Giostanovlatto Sinantong said global travel trends are shifting significantly. According to him, modern travelers are no longer seeking luxury facilities alone, but are increasingly looking for authentic experiences, genuine hospitality, respect for local culture, and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
“Premium tourism today is moving toward more meaningful experiences. Travelers want to experience the true character of a destination, enjoy high-quality service, and know that a resort’s presence also benefits local communities and the surrounding environment,” he said.
Sinantong added that Bali’s dominance in international tourism awards and industry recommendations demonstrates that the island remains the flagship of Indonesia’s tourism sector. At the same time, the inclusion of Labuan Bajo and Sumba in AJIP Bali’s recommendations indicates that Indonesia’s premium tourism destinations are expanding and offering visitors a wider range of world-class travel experiences.
The recognition from Tripadvisor, along with the growing international appreciation for Indonesia’s hospitality industry, is expected to further strengthen the country’s image as a world-class tourism destination. Beyond attracting more international visitors, these achievements are also expected to encourage tourism stakeholders to continue improving service quality, protecting the environment, and preserving local cultural identity as the foundation of sustainable tourism development.
