Bali Police Obtain DNA of Ukrainian Kidnapping Victim’s Mother, Prof. Ngoerah Hospital to Conduct Matching

BALINEWSID.COM, BALI – Polda Bali has obtained comparative DNA belonging to the mother of a Ukrainian national identified as IK (28), who was reportedly kidnapped in Bali. The DNA will be matched with samples collected during the ongoing investigation, including from mutilated body parts recently discovered in Gianyar Regency.

Head of Public Relations of Bali Police, Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, said the comparative DNA sample from the victim’s biological mother had been brought directly from Ukraine and is now in Bali.

“The comparative DNA, namely the DNA of IK’s biological mother, is already in Bali in document form,” Ariasandy said at Bali Police Headquarters on Monday (March 2, 2026).

He explained that preliminary DNA matching results between bloodstains found at a villa in Tabanan and the mother’s DNA showed a match. However, he emphasized that the findings cannot yet lead to a final conclusion.

“We are still waiting for the autopsy results from RSUP Prof. Ngoerah. Other body tissues are already invalid for DNA testing due to severe damage. Today, I received information that there is an attempt to take additional samples from certain body parts to be submitted to the forensic laboratory for DNA examination,” he said.

According to Ariasandy, most of the mutilated body parts have been recovered, including the head, the upper torso (right and left chest), the soles of the feet, and several internal organs.

He added that Prof. Ngoerah Hospital is expected to soon release DNA findings from the various recovered body parts. The DNA samples from the victim’s parents have already been secured and will be compared with the forensic results after the autopsy is completed.

The autopsy process is still ongoing. Despite the preliminary DNA match between the bloodstains at the Tabanan villa and the mother’s DNA, Ariasandy stressed that authorities cannot yet confirm that the mutilated body parts belong to IK, as the DNA results from those body parts have not yet been finalized.

The bloodstains from the Tabanan villa were taken as evidence because the property is believed to have been used by several suspects who are now subject to red notices and are being pursued by police. Based on CCTV footage and witness statements, the suspects were known to have stayed at the villa. Investigators strongly suspect that the victim may have been taken there, possibly held captive and tortured.

So far, six foreign nationals have been named as suspects. Ariasandy declined to disclose their nationalities for investigative reasons. Of the six, four are believed to have fled abroad, while the remaining two are suspected to still be in Indonesia. This information was obtained from immigration movement data after coordination between Bali Police and immigration authorities.

“We have detected that four suspects have fled overseas, while two are still in Indonesia. Arrest warrants have been issued, and we are coordinating with Interpol to locate the suspects. Our teams are still working on the ground. The targeted individuals have been identified, and the manhunt is ongoing,” he said.

The suspects were named based on at least two pieces of evidence, including CCTV footage and witness testimony. More than 10 witnesses have been questioned, and their statements have pointed to the same six individuals.

“We are confident that the minimum evidentiary requirement has been fulfilled, allowing the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation to designate the six foreign nationals as suspects in connection with kidnapping, unlawful deprivation of liberty, and aggravated assault,” Ariasandy stated.
