BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Bali Regional Executive Board (DPW) of the NasDem Party has firmly denied circulating rumors about a potential merger, fusion, or acquisition involving the party, calling the claims baseless and misleading.
Speaking to journalists in Denpasar on Tuesday (April 14, 2026), Bali NasDem Chairman I Nengah Senantara stressed that such concepts do not apply within the political landscape.
“In political history, what is recognized is fusion, and even that occurred due to state intervention—not the will of political parties. To date, there have been no discussions in that direction,” Senantara said.

He emphasized that merging political parties is not a simple matter, given that each party is founded on distinct ideological principles. As a result, rumors suggesting that NasDem could be combined with another party are unfounded.
Addressing internal dynamics, the Bali NasDem leadership assured that the party remains solid under the leadership of Chairman Surya Paloh. Senantara described internal developments as a normal part of political life, especially as NasDem continues to grow as a major force in Indonesia’s political arena, with increasing seat gains in successive elections.
“The situation within NasDem is solid. Political dynamics are normal, just as they occur in other parties. In fact, as NasDem grows rapidly, it attracts attention and triggers various issues,” he added.
Regarding a report published by Tempo that raised the issue of a potential party fusion and alleged takeover, NasDem strongly rejected the claims, stating that the report was inaccurate and politically damaging. The party also argued that the coverage discredited its chairman and the institution as a whole.
As a follow-up, the NasDem Central Executive Board (DPP) has visited Tempo’s editorial office to seek clarification and accountability. The party has formally demanded a public apology from Tempo within 24 hours.
“We are not seeking material compensation. What we demand is responsibility for inaccurate reporting. There must be no impression that the NasDem Party is being traded or taken over by other parties,” Senantara asserted.
The Bali NasDem leadership also called on journalists and media organizations to uphold journalistic ethics and ensure the accuracy of information delivered to the public. According to the party, the media plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of democracy and educating society.
“We hope the media can safeguard democracy, ethics, and responsibility in delivering information. This is a shared duty to ensure the nation progresses toward justice and prosperity,” he concluded.
