BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — Volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau has disrupted flight operations to and from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, with at least 17 flights canceled or delayed as of Sunday (September 6) at 10 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA).

The disruption has mainly affected flights between Denpasar and Jakarta. Five scheduled arrivals from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) to Denpasar (DPS) were canceled on Sunday.

The canceled arrivals included TransNusa flight 8B5106, scheduled to arrive at 1:20 p.m. WITA, and TransNusa flight 8B5104, scheduled for 9:45 a.m. WITA.

Three Indonesia AirAsia flights were also canceled: QZ808, scheduled to arrive at 11:10 a.m.; QZ806 at 9 a.m.; and QZ802 at 1:05 p.m.

On the departure side, at least 12 flights were affected, with most cancellations involving the Denpasar-Jakarta route.

The disruptions began with Pelita Air flight IP105 from Denpasar to Jakarta, which was scheduled to depart at 7:30 p.m. WITA on Saturday (September 5) and was canceled.

On Sunday, Garuda Indonesia flight GA401 on the Denpasar-Jakarta route, scheduled to depart at 7 a.m., was canceled, while Garuda Indonesia flight GA403 at the same scheduled departure time was delayed.

Several TransNusa flights were also canceled, including 8B5105, scheduled to depart at 9:10 a.m., and 8B5101, scheduled for 10:25 a.m.

Other canceled departures included Indonesia AirAsia QZ809, scheduled for 7:50 a.m.; QZ807 at 9:30 a.m.; Citilink QG197 from Denpasar to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLP) at 10:25 a.m.; Garuda Indonesia GA407 to Jakarta at 11:55 a.m.; Citilink QG815 to Jakarta at 10:50 a.m.; and Indonesia AirAsia QZ803 to Jakarta at 1:35 p.m.

The latest update also listed TransNusa flight 8B5101 as canceled, with its scheduled departure time at 10:25 a.m. WITA.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), the operator of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, is continuing to coordinate with airlines to update flight schedules and assist affected passengers who are already at the terminal.

The airport operator is also coordinating with AirNav Indonesia to monitor airspace conditions affected by the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Airport management has prepared service recovery measures for affected passengers who are already at the terminal.

Passengers are advised not to rely solely on their original flight schedules. They are urged to regularly confirm the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before traveling to the airport.

The flight adjustments are being made based on continuous monitoring of airspace conditions and developments in Mount Anak Krakatau’s volcanic activity, with flight safety remaining the top priority.
