BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Denpasar Police are investigating the alleged assault of a British national identified by the initials PID, who died after receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Denpasar, Bali.
The alleged assault reportedly occurred at an entertainment venue in Legian, Badung Regency, at around 2:00 a.m. on August 5, 2026.
Following the incident, PID returned to the hotel where he was staying. On August 8, he received medical treatment at Murni Teguh Hospital before being transferred to BIMC Hospital on August 9 for further treatment.
However, at approximately 12:06 p.m. on August 20, the hospital declared PID dead. His body was subsequently transferred to Dharma Yadnya General Hospital.
Four Australian Nationals Under Investigation
Based on preliminary inquiries, Denpasar Police found indications that the victim may have been subjected to violence allegedly carried out by several foreign nationals.
Investigators have questioned a number of witnesses, including the victim’s family members, security personnel and employees at the location of the incident, as well as other individuals believed to have knowledge of the events.
Police are also examining CCTV footage and videos of the incident, which are considered important evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary findings identified four Australian nationals who are believed to be linked to the incident. They have been identified by the initials RGG, PAM, JRM and TRZ.
Immigration records show that all four individuals left Indonesia on August 6, 2026, through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, bound for Australia.
Investigators are currently examining their whereabouts at the time of the incident, their respective roles, their relationship with one another, and their activities before and after the alleged assault.
Cause of Death Still Being Investigated
Denpasar Police stressed that they have not yet reached any conclusion regarding the cause of PID’s death or the potential criminal liability of any individual.
Investigators will coordinate with forensic doctors and the hospital to obtain medical records and expert information needed to determine whether the victim’s medical condition was connected to the alleged assault on August 5.
Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Leonardo David Simatupang, S.I.K., M.H., said the case would be handled professionally, transparently and objectively, based on available evidence.
“We will thoroughly uncover the entire sequence of events, including the role of each party and the cause of the victim’s death. The legal process will be conducted professionally and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.”
Police have urged the public not to circulate unverified information and to allow investigators to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation.
The four Australian nationals remain subjects of investigation, and no legal conclusion has been made regarding their alleged involvement or criminal responsibility.
