BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Bali Police have uncovered a suspected drug trafficking case involving methamphetamine and the alleged illegal possession of a firearm in Batubulan Village, Sukawati, Gianyar. A 42-year-old man identified by his initials, INM, was arrested in connection with the case.

The suspect was arrested by the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate’s Sub-Directorate III Operational Team on Friday (August 14, 2026), at around 6 p.m. local time at a car garage on Jalan Batuyang, Batubulan Village.

Bali Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Pol Ariasandy confirmed the arrest. He said the case began with a report from residents concerning suspected illicit drug trafficking in the Batubulan area.

“Officers from Sub-Directorate III of the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate conducted an investigation and eventually arrested INM at around 6 p.m. at a car garage on Jalan Batuyang, Batubulan Village,” Ariasandy said.

During a search at the first location, witnessed by public witnesses, officers seized a sling bag containing five packets of methamphetamine concealed in plastic pipette segments. The drugs weighed 2.17 grams gross, or 0.92 grams net.

Police also confiscated two mobile phones, a Realme and an Oppo, along with a Tough Warrior-branded bag.

The investigation was then expanded to the suspect’s residence in Banjar Tegehe, Batubulan Village, at around 6:15 p.m. Officers found five additional plastic packets containing methamphetamine on a shelf in the front bedroom.

In total, police seized 10 packets of methamphetamine weighing 6.94 grams gross, or 4.74 grams net, from the two locations.

The search of the residence also uncovered additional items allegedly linked to drug trafficking, as well as an illegally possessed firearm.

Police seized a silver-and-black Makarov-type handgun bearing serial number T 18015, along with a gun case bearing a Glock logo. Officers also found 74 rounds of 4mm ammunition.

In addition, investigators seized Rp150 million (approximately US$9,000) in cash, which was stored in a black V-TEC safe.

Other evidence included a Krisbow digital scale, a bundle of clear plastic bags, plastic pipettes, a bong, scissors, sales records, and a BCA bank account book.

During preliminary questioning, INM allegedly told investigators that he obtained the illegal drugs from a person whose contact was saved on WhatsApp under the name “Mek Tembau.” Police are still investigating the person’s identity and whereabouts.

“INM and all the evidence have been secured at the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate for further legal proceedings and investigation, including efforts to determine the origin of the firearm and ammunition,” Ariasandy said.

The suspect is being investigated under Article 114 paragraph (1) and Article 609 paragraph (1) of the applicable law, according to the Bali Police.

Investigators are continuing to examine the alleged drug distribution network and the origin and legality of the firearm and ammunition seized from the suspect’s residence.
