BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Allegations have emerged that a police officer serving as the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) at Kuta Police Station, identified by the initials Iptu MDP, allegedly ordered 40 ecstasy pills. However, Bali Police emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and no official determination has been made regarding the allegation.
According to information obtained from sources familiar with the case, the allegation surfaced during the development of an investigation conducted by the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) after officers detained a woman suspected of involvement in an illegal narcotics distribution network.
The source, who requested anonymity, claimed the woman admitted to receiving an order for 40 ecstasy pills from Iptu MDP. The pills were allegedly intended to be used at a gathering involving several of his classmates from the Police Academy and a number of business associates at a well-known nightclub in the Canggu area during a DJ performance.
The same source further alleged that investigators had obtained chat records from a messaging application as well as proof of a financial transaction believed to be related to the alleged order. However, the source also stated that the narcotics had reportedly not yet been delivered to the officer.
The source additionally claimed that Iptu MDP was apprehended on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in an operation allegedly led directly by the Director of the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate. The exact location of the arrest has not been officially disclosed.
Separately, the source also mentioned that the Narcotics Directorate had previously detained a member of the Karangasem Police, identified only by the initial Y, in an unrelated methamphetamine case. According to the source, that case has no connection with the allegations involving Iptu MDP.
When asked to respond to the circulating allegations, Bali Police Narcotics Director Senior Commissioner Radiant denied the claims.
“I’m sorry, that’s not true,” he said briefly via WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, Bali Police Head of Public Relations Senior Commissioner Ariasandy confirmed that, based on information provided by the Narcotics Directorate, Iptu MDP had tested positive in a urine screening.
“I don’t have information about that allegation. The information I received from the Director of the Narcotics Directorate is that his urine test came back positive,” Ariasandy said on Thursday (July 9, 2026).
He added that the officer had been placed under special detention for 30 days as part of the internal disciplinary process.
“He is currently under a 30-day detention. The detention period ended on July 8, but the investigation is still ongoing,” Ariasandy stated.
As of the publication of this report, investigators have not issued an official statement confirming the allegation that Iptu MDP ordered 40 ecstasy pills, nor have they announced any criminal charges against him. The alleged order remains under investigation, and authorities have yet to establish its legal status.
