BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — An unusual incident occurred shortly after Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko left the Dharma Dewata patrol location at Tibubeneng Field, North Kuta, Badung, Bali, early Friday (August 28, 2026).

A man claiming to be a British national suddenly revved a high-capacity sport motorcycle in front of the vehicle carrying Hendarsam. The incident briefly obstructed the convoy’s movement.

Immigration officers who were still at the scene immediately stopped the man and directed him to the roadside.

During questioning, the man said he was only trying out a motorcycle belonging to a friend who was also in the area.

The examination continued after officers asked him to present his identity documents and passport. However, he was unable to produce them, claiming that his documents were being held by a friend.

Officers also asked where he was staying in Bali. The man said he was staying at a villa in the Nusa Dua area.

According to officers at the scene, the man appeared confused while answering questions and was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

Immigration officers then conducted a facial recognition check to verify his identity and immigration status.

“Based on the facial recognition system check, the man is suspected of having overstayed,” an officer handling the examination said.

The man was subsequently taken into Immigration custody in a patrol vehicle for further questioning and investigation into his identity and immigration status in Indonesia.

As of the completion of the initial examination, authorities had not officially disclosed the man’s identity or confirmed the alleged immigration violation.

Further examination by Immigration authorities is still underway.
