BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate (Subdit Gakkum) of the Bali Police’s Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) has arrested a 50-year-old man identified by his initials, IWP, who is suspected of dealing methamphetamine and ecstasy in Pemogan, Denpasar.
The suspect was arrested on Monday, August 17, 2026, at around 7 p.m. local time in a room at his residence in Pemogan. The arrest followed information from local residents who suspected drug transactions were taking place at the house.
Acting on the information, officers conducted surveillance around the location. After confirming that the suspect matched the description provided by residents, the officers arrested IWP.
During an initial interrogation, IWP allegedly admitted to possessing and supplying illegal drugs. Police subsequently seized 13 packets of suspected methamphetamine and five ecstasy pills.
Officers also confiscated Rp10.217 million in cash, which was suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, along with an ACIS digital scale, a portable sealing machine, a press tool, three homemade water pipes, two glass pipes, two lighters and a pair of scissors.
Other items seized included a Happy Dent candy box and a pack of blue Camel cigarettes allegedly used to store the methamphetamine, a black bag, a trash bin and two mobile phones, a Realme C75x and a black Vphone.
Bali Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Pol Ariasandy said the arrest reflected the Ditpolairud’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in both coastal and mainland areas of Bali.
“We will not give any room whatsoever for drug trafficking in Bali,” Ariasandy said.
The suspect and all seized evidence have been taken to the Ditpolairud headquarters for further questioning and investigation. Police are continuing to develop the case and investigate the possible involvement of other parties.
Ariasandy also thanked residents for providing information and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
