BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – The Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Denpasar City Police Criminal Investigation Division has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in South Denpasar, Bali.

The suspect, identified by the initials DB, is from Sabu Raijua Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The alleged incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at around 5 p.m. local time at a residence on Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai, Arta Segara Suwung Alley, South Denpasar.

According to the police report, the victim was alone in her bedroom when the suspect allegedly entered the room. He is accused of covering the girl’s mouth and forcibly having sexual intercourse with her.

The victim reportedly did not immediately tell her mother about the incident because she was afraid. She later experienced pain that prevented her from carrying out normal activities and attending school before eventually telling her mother what had allegedly happened.

The victim’s mother, identified by the initials WER, 31, subsequently reported the incident to the Denpasar City Police.

Following the report, investigators from the PPA Unit conducted an investigation into the alleged sexual assault. After obtaining information about the suspect’s whereabouts, a police team led by the head of the PPA Unit, accompanied by the second sub-unit chief, went to the location and arrested DB on Monday, August 3, 2026.

The suspect was then taken to the Denpasar City Police headquarters for further questioning.

Police said the alleged assault was carried out through threats against the child.

The PPA Unit has since examined the suspect, the victim and the victim’s mother, as well as witnesses. Investigators have also conducted a medical examination of the victim.

Police are coordinating with the local Women and Children Protection Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD PPA) to provide psychological assistance to the victim. Coordination has also been carried out with the Social Affairs Agency to ensure social-worker assistance.

The suspect has been detained while investigators continue processing the case.

DB is being investigated under Article 473 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum prison sentence of 12 years for anyone who, through violence or threats of violence, forces another person to engage in sexual intercourse.

The investigation remains ongoing.
