BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Denpasar Police have uncovered a suspected drug abuse case that led to the discovery of five firearms, four airsoft guns and dozens of rounds of ammunition during a search of a house in Penatih, East Denpasar.

The suspect, identified by his initials as ARMP, 30, from Kintamani, Bangli Regency, was arrested on Saturday (Aug. 1, 2026) at around 5:30 p.m. local time on Jalan Kasuari, Gang Cempaka I, Penatih.

Denpasar Police Public Relations Chief Insp. I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said the arrest followed information received by the Narcotics Investigation Unit regarding suspected drug abuse at the location.

Police found ARMP on the terrace of his house when officers arrived. During a body and house search, officers discovered a package containing powder and several purple tablets suspected to be ecstasy.

The search subsequently uncovered a number of firearms, airsoft guns and various types of ammunition inside the house.

Police seized five firearms, four airsoft guns, 55 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition, five rounds of .78-caliber ammunition, two 9mm rounds, one .32 ACP round, five 8mm blank rounds, two .22 LR rounds, one magazine and 33 CO2 gas canisters.

Following the discovery, the Narcotics Investigation Unit coordinated with the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit to investigate the suspected illegal possession and control of the firearms and ammunition.

“Based on the initial examination, ARMP said the firearms and airsoft guns belonged to other people who had entrusted them to him for repairs,” Insp. Gede said.

ARMP works as an MMA and boxing instructor in the Canggu area and also claimed to be part of a private security or bodyguard team.

According to police, ARMP said he had the ability to repair airsoft guns and had been a member of the Tactical Shooting Club in Yogyakarta from 2016 to 2018.

He also told investigators that the firearms, airsoft guns and air guns found at his residence did not belong to him. He claimed they had been entrusted to him by several people for repairs, along with the ammunition.

Meanwhile, regarding the suspected drug offense, ARMP reportedly admitted to using narcotics, claiming that he did so to calm himself when experiencing pressure or stress.

“Regarding the suspected drug abuse, ARMP admitted to consuming narcotics to calm himself when he was under pressure or experiencing stress,” Insp. Gede said.

Investigators from the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit are continuing to question the suspect and conduct further inquiries to establish the origins of the firearms, ownership of the ammunition and the legal status of the weapons found at the location.

Police are also investigating the identities of the people who allegedly entrusted the firearms and ammunition to ARMP.

The investigation is expected to determine whether the weapons and ammunition were legally possessed and whether their possession is connected to other potential criminal offenses.
