Ahead of Galungan and Kuningan, BULOG Bali Assures Food Supplies Are Secure and Prices Remain Stable

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – State logistics agency Perum BULOG Bali Regional Office has assured the public that food supplies across Bali remain secure and sufficient ahead of the upcoming Galungan and Kuningan celebrations. The agency currently controls a total food stock of 10.79 million kilograms, which is considered adequate to meet public demand for the next 10 months.

With consumption typically increasing during the religious festivities, BULOG Bali has intensified efforts to ensure that essential food commodities remain available and accessible to the community.

Head of Perum BULOG Bali Regional Office, Simon Melkisedek Lakapu, stated that the public should not be concerned about the availability of rice and other strategic food commodities, as current stock levels are more than sufficient.

“Ahead of Galungan and Kuningan, we are ensuring that BULOG Bali’s food reserves remain secure for the next 10 months. Our current stock stands at 10.79 million kilograms and is ready to meet the needs of the Balinese community. We urge the public not to engage in excessive purchasing because food supplies are more than adequate,” Simon said on Saturday (June 13, 2026).

In addition to maintaining stock availability, BULOG Bali continues to monitor food prices across the province. Based on observations in various regions, rice prices and several other strategic commodities remain relatively stable.

Simon emphasized that one of BULOG’s primary responsibilities is to maintain food supply and price stability. To achieve this, the agency continues to coordinate with the Food Task Force, local governments, and other stakeholders to ensure market conditions remain under control throughout the holiday period.

“Rice prices in Bali are still under control. We are working closely with the Food Task Force, local governments, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure this stability is maintained during the Galungan and Kuningan celebrations,” he said.

Amid ongoing economic challenges and uncertainties, BULOG Bali has also continued implementing government programs aimed at strengthening food security and supporting low-income households.

One of the key initiatives currently underway is the distribution of Food Assistance for the February–March 2026 allocation. As of mid-June 2026, BULOG Bali had distributed assistance to 287,347 beneficiaries, equivalent to 96.5 percent of the province’s total allocation.

“The Food Assistance Program represents the government’s commitment, through BULOG, to support communities by helping maintain purchasing power and ensuring access to staple food. We are accelerating distribution so that all beneficiaries receive their assistance on time,” Simon explained.

BULOG Bali is also continuing to implement the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP) by distributing subsidized rice through traditional markets, Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP), retail kiosks, Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) outlets, and other distribution channels.

To date, the agency has distributed 3,028,010 kilograms of SPHP rice throughout Bali as part of efforts to keep rice prices affordable for consumers.

“We continue to optimize SPHP rice distribution as a key instrument for price stabilization. Through extensive and equitable distribution, we hope the public can access quality rice at affordable prices, especially ahead of major religious celebrations when demand tends to rise,” he added.

BULOG Bali remains optimistic that strong collaboration between the government, businesses, and the public will help maintain food security and market stability during the Galungan and Kuningan holidays. With sufficient stock levels, stable prices, and effective government intervention programs, residents are expected to celebrate the holidays with peace of mind.
