Long Holiday Pushes JTTS Traffic Up by 44 Percent, Padang–Sicincin Toll Records Highest Surge

BALINEWSID.COM, SUMATRA – PT Hutama Karya (Persero) recorded a significant increase in vehicle traffic across several sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) during the long holiday period covering Eid al-Adha, Vesak Day, and Pancasila Day on May 26, 2026.

The company reported that a total of 135,262 vehicles passed through operational toll road sections, marking a 44.32 percent increase compared to normal traffic conditions.

The surge in traffic was driven by increased public mobility for intercity travel, tourism activities, visits to city centers, and trips to areas surrounding the toll roads. To anticipate congestion, Hutama Karya strengthened operational services and intensified regular traffic monitoring across all JTTS sections.

Based on the company’s daily traffic data, the Padang–Sicincin Toll Road recorded the highest increase, soaring by 137.22 percent with 4,066 vehicles passing through the route. Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru–XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road posted a 98.34 percent increase with 8,344 vehicles.

A significant rise was also recorded on the Kuala Tanjung–Tebing Tinggi–Parapat Toll Road Sections 1–4 (Kuala Tanjung–Pematang Siantar), operated by PT Hutama Marga Waskita (HMW), where traffic reached 28,476 vehicles, up 87.97 percent from normal conditions.

In South Sumatra, the Palembang–Indralaya–Prabumulih Toll Road (Palindra & Indraprabu) served 19,004 vehicles, increasing by 46.26 percent. The Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung Toll Road recorded 2,096 vehicles, up 41.62 percent.

Meanwhile, the Terbanggi Besar–Kayu Agung Toll Road (Terpeka) handled 15,073 vehicles, reflecting a 22.22 percent increase, while the Pekanbaru–Dumai Toll Road recorded 17,460 vehicles, up 25.37 percent compared to normal daily traffic.

In North Sumatra and Aceh, the Indrapura–Kisaran Toll Road saw 11,500 vehicles or a 35.15 percent increase. The Binjai–Langsa Toll Road Section Binjai–Pangkalan Brandan recorded 12,485 vehicles, rising 36.28 percent, while the Sigli–Banda Aceh Toll Road (Sibanceh) served 9,040 vehicles, up 32.84 percent.

The lowest increase was recorded on the Betung–Tempino–Jambi Toll Road Section Bayung Lencir–Tempino, which saw traffic rise by 3.68 percent with 7,718 vehicles passing through.

Amid the heightened mobility during the holiday period, Hutama Karya urged toll road users to prepare their trips carefully, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, maintain good physical condition while driving, and make sure electronic money balances are sufficient before entering toll gates.

Motorists were also reminded to obey traffic signs and speed limits. Drivers feeling tired or drowsy were encouraged to rest at the nearest rest area to ensure travel safety.

Hutama Karya emphasized that it continues to strengthen service readiness by deploying field officers, conducting regular traffic monitoring, and coordinating with related authorities to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for the public during the long holiday period.
