62 Foreign Nationals Nabbed in Bali Immigration Sweep, Alleged Prostitution and Visa Abuse Uncovered

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Bali Regional Office of Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has detained 62 foreign nationals (WNA) during a recent immigration enforcement operation, with authorities uncovering alleged violations ranging from misuse of residence permits to indications of prostitution. May 5, 2026.

Head of the Bali Immigration Office, Felucia Sengky Ratna, said the current focus remains on administrative immigration violations identified during the patrol. “At this stage, we are conveying the results of immigration patrol activities related to administrative breaches,” she stated.

However, the operation also revealed more serious concerns. Authorities identified indications of prostitution involving several foreign nationals within Bali’s jurisdiction, raising the stakes of the ongoing investigation.

All detained individuals have been placed under supervision at the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) for further processing. Officials confirmed that a number of those apprehended were found to have misused their stay permits, using visas in ways that did not match their stated purposes.

Felucia emphasized that all individuals are still undergoing examination and deeper investigation. She did not rule out the possibility of criminal charges. “If further investigation uncovers criminal elements, the case will be escalated and coordinated with relevant authorities,” she asserted.

The Bali Immigration Office reiterated its commitment to tightening oversight of foreign nationals’ activities and presence on the island, aiming to uphold legal order while maintaining a safe and conducive tourism environment in Bali.
