DPR RI Urges Swift Resolution of Ngurah Rai Tahura Case

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR  – April 10, 2026 — Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI), through Commission III, has urged law enforcement authorities in Bali to immediately resolve several ongoing cases, including the surrounding land ownership certificates (SHM) within the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura Ngurah Rai). Commission III member Nyoman Parta emphasized the need to accelerate the investigation into the alleged issuance of land ownership certificates on state-owned land within the conservation area. He delivered the statement during a visit to the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Bali) on Friday.

“We conveyed the issue of land certification in Tahura and urged that the investigation be expedited,” Nyoman Parta said.

In addition to the Tahura Ngurah Rai case, Commission III also highlighted suspected spatial planning violations in several areas across Bali, including in Pancasari Village, Bedugul.

The DPR further pressed for the resolution of environmental cases, including the death of hundreds of mangrove trees in the Pelindo Benoa area. According to Parta, laboratory findings related to the mangrove case are already conclusive, and authorities are now awaiting follow-up action from the police.

“The mangrove case is already very clear based on laboratory results, so we are now waiting for progress from the police,” he added.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, Chatarina Muliana Girsang, stated that her office is continuing to examine the polemic surrounding land ownership certificates in the Tahura Ngurah Rai area. The office is currently reviewing and sorting through available land ownership documents.

“At the moment, we are sorting the documents. Only some have been submitted so far, and we are working to obtain the rest,” Chatarina said.

She added that investigators have questioned 15 witnesses in connection with the case. However, no suspects have been named as the analysis process is still ongoing.

“Not yet, because we must carefully determine the timeline—who is responsible and when. We have to be thorough and cautious based on the available documents,” she explained.

The case has drawn serious attention from the DPR, given that Tahura Ngurah Rai is a protected conservation area with a crucial environmental role in Bali.
