Dutch National Fatally Stabbed at Villa Amira in Badung, Two Suspects Still at Large

BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – A 49-year-old Dutch national identified by the initials RP was fatally stabbed in a violent attack at Villa Amira No.1, Banjar Anyar Kelod, Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung, on Monday (March 23, 2026) at around 10:50 p.m. local time. Police believe the victim was attacked by two perpetrators who remain on the run.

Badung Police Chief, AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, stated that the case is still under intensive investigation, particularly to determine the motive behind the brutal assault.

“We are still deepening the investigation based on witness statements and field findings to establish the motive. We hope to uncover the reason behind this crime soon,” Purba said during a press conference at Badung Police Headquarters on Wednesday (March 25, 2026).

The incident began when the victim and his girlfriend left the villa at around 10:00 p.m. They reportedly noticed two men riding a motorcycle behaving suspiciously near the location.

Moments later, the two suspects turned back and launched a sudden knife attack on the victim. The victim’s girlfriend was also chased but managed to escape into a dark area near the villa.

The victim sustained multiple severe injuries to the head, neck, shoulders, and back caused by a sharp weapon. He was rushed to BIMC Hospital but was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m. due to excessive blood loss.

Police confirmed that the attackers are believed to be two მამაკales, but their identities and nationalities have not yet been determined.

“We are continuing the manhunt and coordinating with relevant authorities in case the suspects attempt to flee Bali or leave the country,” Purba emphasized.

Based on witness descriptions, one of the suspects was wearing a dark-colored online motorcycle taxi jacket, while the other was dressed in an orange T-shirt.

Authorities have not yet concluded whether the attack was premeditated. Investigators are still examining witness testimonies and evidence from the scene to determine this.

“We are still exploring whether this act was planned in advance,”.

Police are also investigating the possibility of prior communication between the victim and the suspects, including examining limited electronic evidence such as CCTV footage around the area.

The victim had reportedly visited Bali several times since 2022 and had been residing on the island since 2024. During his stay, he was believed to be involved in several business activities, which are also under investigation.

“At this stage, information suggests the victim was linked to several businesses. We are still exploring these connections,” said the police chief.

At the time of the incident, the victim had been staying at Villa Amira No.3 for approximately three days.

So far, at least five witnesses have been questioned, including local residents, the villa owner, and the victim’s girlfriend who was present during the attack.

The investigation has been hampered by limited CCTV coverage at the crime scene. Police are now relying on footage from the end of the alley and employing scientific investigation methods to track down the suspects.

“We will maximize scientific investigation methods supported by witness statements, field evidence, and electronic data, especially CCTV footage, which is crucial,”.
