DENPASAR, BALINEWSID.COM  – Despite days of extreme weather and flooding that struck several parts of the island, tourists in Bali are continuing their travel activities as usual as conditions improve following the February 23–24 alert period.

Forecaster at BBMKG Region III Denpasar, Luh Eka Arisanti, previously explained that continuous heavy rainfall placed several regions on extreme weather standby status. The intense cloud formation over Bali was influenced by the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) developing over the Indian Ocean, which significantly increased rainfall intensity across the island.

The impact was felt in a number of areas, particularly in Denpasar City, where floodwaters inundated several neighborhoods and main roads. In addition to flooding, reports also highlighted damage to several historic buildings, prompting concerns over structural preservation.

However, as per Thursday (February 26), some areas showed partly cloudy skies with light drizzles that did not lead to renewed flooding.

Tourism activities remain operational. Travel routes are accessible, and tour schedules are running normally.

A tourist from India, Pavitra (45), said she continued her planned itinerary without disruption.

“Today I have a tour from the Seminyak–Kuta area to Ubud and Kintamani. I’m grateful the weather is very friendly,” she said.

Pavitra added that she plans to stay in Bali until February 28, expressing enthusiasm about continuing her holiday despite earlier reports of extreme weather.

With weather conditions improving and floodwaters receding, Bali’s tourism sector is showing resilience, reassuring visitors that traveling on the island remains safe. (*)
