BALINEWSID.COM, ACEH — PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will temporarily suspend operations on Section 1 of the Sigli–Banda Aceh Toll Road, covering the Padang Tiji–Seulimeum segment, from Wednesday, September 9, to Friday, September 11, 2026.

The temporary closure will take effect at 7 a.m. local time on September 9 and is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. on September 11.

Hutama Karya said the closure is necessary to allow the implementation of the Functional and Operational Feasibility Test (ULFO) on the section, which is currently operating on a functional basis.

The ULFO is intended to ensure that the toll road’s technical specifications, road equipment, quality standards and safety measures meet the required standards before the road is fully opened to the public.

The testing process involves the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Transportation, Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) and other relevant agencies.

Once the entire testing process has been completed, the toll road section will proceed toward the issuance of an operational feasibility certificate.

Hutama Karya Executive Vice President for Corporate Secretary, Hamdani, apologized to road users for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.

“We apologize for the inconvenience. Road users planning to travel through the Padang Tiji–Seulimeum section during the closure are advised to use available alternative routes and adjust their travel schedules accordingly,” Hamdani said in a statement issued Tuesday (September 8).

As an alternative route, motorists traveling between Banda Aceh and Medan, in either direction, can use the national highway through Saree during the closure.

Hutama Karya has also urged motorists to follow traffic signs and instructions from officers in the field throughout the temporary closure.

Road users are advised to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, drive in good physical condition and avoid driving when tired or sleepy.
