Rudenim Denpasar Partners with Mental Hospital to Strengthen Detainee Healthcare

BALINEWSID.COM, BANGLI – The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim Denpasar) has officially entered into a partnership with Manah Shanti Mahottama Mental Hospital (RSJ Manah Shanti Mahottama) to enhance healthcare services for immigration detainees, particularly those requiring mental health treatment.

The cooperation was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) at RSJ Manah Shanti Mahottama in Bangli Regency. The signing ceremony was attended by Head of Rudenim Denpasar Teguh Mentalyadi, Director of RSJ Manah Shanti Mahottama Dr. Ni Wayan Murdani, M.A.P., and Head of Administration and General Affairs of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Moch. Andri Budiman, S.Sos., M.Si.

In her remarks, Dr. Ni Wayan Murdani said the hospital is undergoing a transformation to provide comprehensive medical services rather than functioning solely as a psychiatric hospital. She explained that the facility now offers inpatient and intensive care services with a capacity of 300 beds and is currently treating 196 patients.

She also noted that the hospital serves as a center for education, training, and research, partnering with 30 healthcare educational institutions.

Head of Rudenim Denpasar Teguh Mentalyadi stated that the detention center does not have specialist medical personnel, particularly psychiatrists, despite having detainees who require mental health care.

“This collaboration is expected to provide a solution for improving healthcare services and ensuring detainees receive professional medical treatment based on their individual needs,” Teguh said.

Representing the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Moch. Andri Budiman welcomed the agreement, describing it as a tangible example of inter-agency cooperation in delivering professional, humane, and human rights-oriented public services, especially in fulfilling detainees’ healthcare needs.

Following the signing ceremony, officials from Rudenim Denpasar toured the hospital’s medical facilities before visiting an American detainee currently receiving treatment at the hospital. During the visit, officers monitored the detainee’s health condition and discussed both the patient’s recovery progress and the ongoing immigration process.

Through this partnership, Rudenim Denpasar expects to strengthen coordination with RSJ Manah Shanti Mahottama in providing professional mental healthcare services for detainees. The collaboration also reflects the detention center’s commitment to delivering optimal services while supporting the implementation of Indonesia’s immigration duties and responsibilities in accordance with prevailing regulations.
