BNEWS.ID – A joint task force comprising the Badung Police, North Kuta Police, Tibubeneng Village Government, and several related agencies conducted an operation to discipline illegal ojek drivers, online motorcycle taxis (ojol), and unruly foreign tourists in Tibubeneng, North Kuta, on Saturday night (October 25, 2025).

The operation, which ran from 10:00 p.m. to midnight, focused on the Simpang Pantai Berawa intersection and along Jalan Raya Pantai Berawa. It was carried out in response to growing complaints from residents and visitors about illegal ojeks and foreign tourists behaving inappropriately, disturbing public comfort and order.

“This operation aims to foster discipline and ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive environment, especially in the busy tourist area of Tibubeneng,” said Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, Head of Public Relations Subsection, Badung Police.

During the inspection, officers checked the completeness of vehicle documents and official attributes of ojol drivers, including STNK, SIM, and license plates registered with the app. As a result, 37 drivers were found violating regulations, such as using mismatched license plates, operating without an official app, lacking uniforms, or carrying passengers without helmets.

In addition, the Gojek Task Force confiscated 80 ojol jackets that did not comply with proper work regulations. Police also issued five traffic citations and seized four motorcycles and one vehicle registration document for further investigation.

The operation also targeted foreign tourists who were found riding without helmets and dressed inappropriately in public areas. Officers gave them verbal warnings and educational advice in a persuasive manner.

According to Aiptu Ayu Inastuti, the operation involved strong inter-agency coordination among the North Kuta Police, Satpol PP, village security (Linmas), immigration intelligence, and local pecalang from the Canggu and Berawa customary villages. “This preventive approach is designed to reduce potential security disturbances without causing friction between authorities and the community,” she explained.

Moving forward, the police will continue regular patrols and community-based monitoring in high-traffic areas such as Jalan Pantai Berawa, Jalan Raya Semat, and Jalan Subak Sari. The North Kuta Police are also collaborating with Tibubeneng Village and the Department of Transportation to organize a database for licensed local ojek drivers.

“With close cooperation between authorities and the community, we hope Tibubeneng remains safe, comfortable, and welcoming for both residents and visitors,” Aiptu Ayu Inastuti concluded. (*)
