BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has announced adjustments to immigration services nationwide in observance of the upcoming Nyepi (Balinese Day of Silence) and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holidays.
Immigration offices across the country will temporarily suspend administrative services from March 18 to March 24, 2026, and will resume normal operations on March 25, 2026.
Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman urged the public to complete all immigration-related matters, including passport applications and residence permits, before the holiday period begins to avoid delays and administrative issues.
“Make sure your immigration matters are completed before March 17, 2026. Since the e-Visa portal will also be temporarily closed, we advise both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals to finalize their immigration documents as soon as possible. This is important to prevent post-holiday congestion and to avoid the risk of overstaying during the Eid holiday period,” Yuldi said.
Despite the temporary closure of administrative services at immigration offices, Yuldi emphasized that immigration inspection and supervision at international gateways will continue to operate normally. Arrival and departure areas at international airports and seaports will remain open 24 hours, and Visa on Arrival (VoA) services will still be available for foreign tourists entering Indonesia.
He also encouraged people with urgent travel needs to utilize the one-day passport acceleration service, which is available at immigration offices nationwide. Applicants whose passports have already been processed are also advised to collect their documents no later than March 17, 2026.
For individuals who already have passport appointments but remain in their hometowns after the Eid holidays, the Directorate General of Immigration allows rescheduling through the M-Paspor application.
Meanwhile, in emergency situations requiring immediate passport issuance—such as urgent overseas medical treatment—residents can contact the nearest immigration office hotline to receive special assistance.
“Please continue to monitor the latest information through the official website www.imigrasi.go.id and the immigration social media channels to stay updated during this extended holiday period,” Yuldi added.
Responding to the operational adjustments, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, emphasized that immigration authorities in Bali are fully prepared to ensure a smooth transition during the extended holiday period.
“We urge everyone in Bali, both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals, to pay close attention to the operational deadlines. As Bali will observe Nyepi followed by the Eid al-Fitr joint holidays, applicants are encouraged to complete their immigration documents before March 18, 2026, to avoid technical issues or the risk of overstaying,” Felucia said.
She added that while administrative services will be suspended, immigration control at international entry points remains a top priority.
“At international gateways such as I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and seaports in Bali, our officers will remain on duty 24 hours. Visa on Arrival services and immigration clearance for foreign travelers will continue as usual to ensure a smooth and comfortable visit to Bali during the holiday period,” she concluded.
