BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is accelerating the recovery of disaster-affected infrastructure in Aceh, focusing on national roads, bridges, landslide-prone areas and drinking water supply systems to restore connectivity and basic services for communities.

The state-owned construction company is currently working on three national road sections under the Directorate General of Highways, as well as post-disaster drinking water infrastructure in Aceh Tamiang and East Aceh.

On the SP Uning–Gayo Lues Border road section (PPK 3.3), Hutama Karya is handling 28 disaster-affected locations along the 82.4-kilometer road. The work consists of 24 landslide sites and four bridge repair sites.

The project includes bridge repairs, retaining walls, concrete blocks, bore piles and other slope stabilization measures designed to strengthen the road body and restore the function of the affected route.

Work began on Dec. 5, 2025, and is scheduled for completion on Dec. 31, 2026. As of the third week of August 2026, physical progress had reached 58.78 percent, with eight of the 28 locations completed.

The completed locations comprise two concrete-block sites, two retaining-wall sites, three shotcrete sites and one bridge. The project involves approximately 81 company employees and 315 workers.

Hutama Karya is also handling 23 disaster-affected locations on the Aceh Tengah/Gayo Lues Border–Blangkejeren road section (PPK 3.4), which stretches 123 kilometers. The total effective length of the rehabilitation work is 2.7 kilometers.

Seven landslide locations and one bridge are located along the N22 Aceh Tengah–Blangkejeren route, while another 15 landslide locations are located along the N23 Blangkejeren–Aceh Tenggara route.

The work includes the installation of precast concrete pipes, FC15 cyclopean concrete, concrete retaining walls and selected embankment material to strengthen and stabilize the affected road sections.

The project began on Dec. 6, 2025, and is targeted for completion by Dec. 31, 2026. Physical progress had reached 46.17 percent by the third week of August, supported by around 130 employees and 190 workers.

Meanwhile, on the Gayo Lues/Aceh Tenggara Border–Kutacane road section (PPK 3.5), six locations are being addressed, comprising two bridges and four landslide sites, with a combined treatment length of 3,775 meters.

The sites include a 325-meter landslide area in Ketambe, a 1,072-meter landslide area in Kafetingir, a 500-meter landslide area in Bener Berpapah, the 793-meter Penanggalan Bridge, the 410-meter Mengkudu Bridge and a 675-meter landslide area in Lawe Ger-ger.

The work covers drainage, box culverts, earthworks, road pavement, retaining structures, bore piles and the construction of steel-truss bridges.

Work started on Dec. 5, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31, 2026. Physical progress stood at 57.06 percent as of the third week of August, with around 76 employees and 155 workers involved.

Water Supply Recovery

In addition to roads and bridges, Hutama Karya is supporting the recovery of drinking water services in Aceh Tamiang and East Aceh through the post-disaster Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) program.

The work includes clearing damaged facilities, drilling 20 water wells, rehabilitating existing water treatment plants and constructing two new water treatment facilities.

In Aceh Tamiang, Hutama Karya is constructing two new water treatment plants and eight water wells. In East Aceh, the company is rehabilitating two existing plants and constructing 12 water wells.

The SPAM recovery project began on Dec. 22, 2025, and is targeted for completion on Dec. 17, 2026. As of the third week of August, physical progress had reached 39.25 percent, involving around 30 employees and 48 workers.

Hutama Karya said the recovery program is not limited to repairing physical infrastructure but is also aimed at restoring the long-term functionality of roads, bridges and water supply facilities for affected communities.

The restoration of roads is expected to improve public mobility, logistics distribution and economic activity between regions, while the rehabilitation of water infrastructure is intended to restore access to clean and safe water as a basic community need.

The company is coordinating the recovery work with the Ministry of Public Works, the Aceh Provincial Highways Implementation Agency (BP2JN/BPJN), relevant commitment-making officials and supervisory consultants.

Hutama Karya said construction methods are being adjusted to the technical conditions at each disaster-affected site to ensure that the infrastructure can safely return to service.

Pj. Executive Vice President (EVP) of Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Hamdani said the emergency response work was part of the company’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure and basic-service recovery in disaster-affected areas.

“For Hutama Karya, addressing disaster-affected infrastructure is part of our responsibility to support the recovery of communities in affected areas,” Hamdani said.

He said the company would continue prioritizing construction quality, safety and timely completion to ensure that the recovery work delivers tangible benefits to local communities.

The recovery program is also aligned with the government’s Asta Cita development agenda, particularly efforts to strengthen interregional connectivity, promote more equitable development and improve people’s quality of life.

Through the rehabilitation of roads, bridges and drinking water infrastructure, Hutama Karya aims to help Aceh communities restore mobility, economic activity and access to essential services following the disasters.
