BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A dispute between residents of two boarding houses in Jalan Akasia XVI, Gang Durian, Kesiman, East Denpasar, has been resolved through mediation facilitated by the East Denpasar Police.
The mediation was held on Thursday (July 9, 2026) at 9:30 a.m. WITA in the Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) meeting room of the East Denpasar Police Station. The session was attended by investigators from the East Denpasar Police, the Head of Kesiman Neighborhood (Br. Buaji Anyar), the Community Police Officer (Bhabinkamtibmas) of Kesiman, and representatives of both parties involved in the altercation.
According to the Public Relations Section of the Denpasar Police (Polresta Denpasar), the mediation was conducted to resolve the conflict amicably, restore peace, maintain public order in the boarding house environment, and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
The altercation began in the early hours of Wednesday (July 8, 2026), at approximately 2:20 a.m. WITA. A group of boarding house residents who had just finished watching a 2026 FIFA World Cup match celebrated Argentina’s victory by revving their motorcycles and shouting outside their residence.
The loud celebration disturbed residents of a boarding house across the alley who were resting. Several residents came outside to ask the group to lower the noise. However, the situation escalated after some individuals, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, reacted negatively to the warning. The verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical confrontation involving punches and objects being thrown.
Local residents, traditional security officers (pecalang), and police officers responded to the scene shortly afterward and managed to separate the two groups. Once the situation was brought under control, all residents were instructed to return to their rooms and were reminded not to create further disturbances late at night.
During the mediation, both parties agreed to settle the matter peacefully by signing a written Peace Agreement. Under the agreement, they pledged not to pursue legal claims against each other over the incident.
They also acknowledged that any future violation of the agreement or repetition of similar conduct would subject them to legal action in accordance with applicable laws.
As part of the settlement, both parties apologized to the residents of Kesiman for the disturbance and committed to maintaining security, public order, and harmony within the neighborhood.
The East Denpasar Police expressed hope that the peaceful resolution would strengthen community relations and serve as a reminder for residents to resolve disputes through dialogue rather than violence.
