BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Indonesia’s state logistics agency BULOG has confirmed that rice and cooking oil supplies for Bali remain secure ahead of the Nyepi Day of Silence (Caka New Year 1948) and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, easing concerns over food availability during the upcoming holiday period.
President Director of BULOG, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that the national Government Rice Reserve (CBP) currently controlled by the agency has reached 3.74 million tons, a level he described as very strong.
According to him, the figure is expected to continue rising as the harvest season progresses across several regions and BULOG intensifies the absorption of unhusked rice and rice from local farmers.
“Our current rice reserve stands at around 3.74 million tons, which is considered very strong. By the end of March, we project the stock could increase to between 4.5 and 5 million tons,” Ramdhani said in a statement released in Jakarta on Monday.
At the regional level, BULOG Bali Regional Head Muhamad Anwar emphasized that rice and cooking oil distribution in Bali remains stable and sufficient to meet public demand.
He explained that food availability in the province is supported through coordinated efforts involving the Food Task Force, regional governments, related agencies, and other stakeholders in the food supply chain.
“With strong rice reserves and adequate cooking oil supply, we ensure that the needs of the Balinese community remain fulfilled, especially ahead of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr,” Anwar said.
Monitoring conducted across several markets in Bali also indicates that the availability of other staple commodities remains adequate, while prices of basic necessities are relatively stable.
BULOG Bali has also urged residents to shop responsibly and avoid panic buying.
“There is no need for public concern. Food supplies are safe and the government continues to ensure smooth distribution,” Anwar added.
To maintain supply stability and price balance, BULOG and the government are continuing to strengthen food distribution networks, increase domestic procurement, and implement food stabilization programs in various regions, including Bali.
