Bali Tourism Run Set as Annual Event, ASITA Targets International Runners to Boost Bali Tourism

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – The Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Bali is preparing the Bali Tourism Run as an annual event to be held on a rotating basis across all regencies and cities in Bali, aiming to increase tourist arrivals and strengthen the competitiveness of the island’s tourism destinations.

ASITA Bali Secretary I Nyoman Subrata, S.E., M.M., said the running event is a continuation of the successful inaugural edition held on April 21, 2024, which attracted running communities from across Indonesia and overseas.

“The experience from the first event has become valuable capital for us to organize the second edition. Many of our members are also active participants in international running events, making it easier to manage this event,” Subrata said in Denpasar on Wednesday (April 29, 2026).

He explained that support from the government and various stakeholders, including the banking sector, would strengthen the event’s resources and help attract more participants with higher quality attendance, both from outside Bali and abroad.

According to Subrata, the Bali Tourism Run will be staged every year in different locations throughout Bali.

“Our goal from the beginning has been to improve the competitiveness of Bali’s tourism destinations, whether in regencies or cities, because more than 50 percent of Bali’s income is supported by the tourism sector,” he said.

ASITA has also rebranded the event under the name Bali Tourism Run to make it an identity for Bali itself, rather than belonging solely to the organizer.

“ASITA is only the initiator and organizer. The government must support this because it is a platform for regional promotion,” he stressed.

For this year’s edition, Jatiluwih in Tabanan was chosen as the venue because it is globally recognized as a UNESCO cultural heritage site and is considered to have strong promotional appeal.

In the future, ASITA plans to bring similar events to other lesser-known destinations so they can gain popularity and help distribute tourist visits more evenly across Bali.

Subrata also invited the public and running communities to participate in the event.

“Let us run together while promoting Bali to the world,” he concluded.
