Bali Police Deny Lapse in Drug Raids at Three Nightlife Venues

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Bali Police have denied any lapse in oversight following recent drug raids conducted by Indonesia’s National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) at several nightlife venues in Denpasar and Badung.

Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya said the operation was part of a joint effort to curb drug trafficking, noting that limited coordination is sometimes necessary to maintain operational secrecy.

“No (we were not caught off guard). Operations like that sometimes require certain coordination measures, including maintaining confidentiality. There is no issue,” Daniel said at the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

He emphasized that Bali Police do not object to the actions taken by Bareskrim, as both institutions share the same goal of combating drug distribution on the island.

“The objective is the same—how to suppress drug trafficking, especially in Bali, so the region remains safe,” he added.

Regarding the possible closure of the implicated nightlife venues, Bali Police said they would proceed cautiously and base any decision on a thorough security assessment.

“We will evaluate whether it becomes a security consideration and whether closure is appropriate. We will conduct an assessment first,” Daniel said.

Earlier, Bareskrim Polri raided three establishments—New Star Club, Delona Vista, and N Co-Living. The operation resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects, while several others remain on the wanted list.

In addition, 48 individuals have undergone rehabilitation at the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN). Authorities also seized evidence from the locations, including ecstasy pills, methamphetamine, and equipment allegedly used to facilitate drug transactions.
