BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Ahead of the Nyepi Day celebration marking the Saka New Year 1948, ANTRABEZ, a band formed by inmates of Kerobokan Class II A Correctional Facility in Denpasar, has released a special song titled “Bali Menyepi.”
The song was created through reflections on silence, self-introspection, and the relationship between humans and the universe—values that form the essence of the Nyepi celebration in Bali. Through the piece, ANTRABEZ attempts to capture the rare moment when nature seems to “breathe” again without the burden of human ego.
Its honest and contemplative lyrics portray the contrast between a world often “tormented by ego” and Bali rediscovering its sacred silence. The reflective tone also invites listeners to rethink the meaning of silence as a space for reflection and for realigning oneself.

The song also highlights the core values of Nyepi through the four principles of Catur Brata Penyepian embedded in the lyrics: Amati Geni (no fire or light), Amati Karya (no work), Amati Lelanguan (no entertainment), and Amati Lelungan (no travel). These principles encourage people to pause from worldly activities, observe themselves, and restore harmony between humans and the universe.
Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Decky Nurmansyah, expressed appreciation for the release of the song.
“The harmony of the melody, notation, and expression in Bali Menyepi is the result of deep contemplation. This work shows that creativity can grow from the rehabilitation process and produce art rich in spiritual and human values,” Decky said during the press conference launching ANTRABEZ’s work at Kerobokan Prison on Monday (March 16, 2026).
He emphasized that the correctional institution continues to implement guidance programs with a sincere approach focused on the future of inmates. By providing creative spaces within the prison, inmates are encouraged to produce works while preparing to rebuild their lives after completing their legal process.
“We want the state to be present to accompany inmates who are undergoing a process of rebuilding their lives. Creativity like this is one of the ways to help them shape a better future,” he said.
Decky added that the song “Bali Menyepi” not only reflects the silence of Nyepi but also carries a message of harmony and religious tolerance in Bali. According to him, the work serves as a reminder that diversity can be united through shared human values and togetherness.
“For me, Bali Menyepi is a reflection of how we can strengthen religious tolerance in Bali while inviting people to experience the beauty of worship in peace,” he said.
He also called on the public, including the media, to support creative works produced through rehabilitation programs in correctional institutions. Such support, he said, would motivate inmates to keep creating while helping them reconstruct their lives in the future.
“We need support from all parties. When there are good works and achievements, let us appreciate and support them so they can continue to create,” Decky added.
