BALINEWSID.COM, PANDEGLANG — The Integrated People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi/SRT) 1 in Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province, has begun operations, providing education for 474 students from underprivileged families.

Supported by state-owned construction company PT Hutama Karya (Persero), the school provides integrated education from elementary to senior high school levels as part of the government’s efforts to expand access to quality education for children from disadvantaged households.

The school was built on an 11.3-hectare site equipped with integrated educational and residential facilities designed to support students’ learning and independence.

SRT 1 Pandeglang has 36 classrooms serving elementary, junior high and senior high school students. The complex also includes student dormitories and teachers’ quarters, as well as computer equipment to support learning activities and examinations.

Other facilities include a track field, basketball and football fields, a place of worship and various other supporting facilities.

The school’s opening was marked by the launch of its School Environment Orientation Program (MPLS) on Friday (Aug. 28). Banten Deputy Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah officially opened the program and inspected several facilities, including classrooms and teachers’ dormitories.

The MPLS program is scheduled to run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 9, 2026. Following the orientation period, the students will participate in a three-month matriculation program aimed at preparing them academically and mentally before beginning full-scale learning activities.

The 474 students enrolled at SRT 1 Pandeglang come from Pandeglang Regency, Serang Regency and South Tangerang City.

Dimyati called on all parties involved in managing the school to maintain and protect its facilities to ensure that the institution can continue benefiting students in the long term.

“This school must be properly maintained and protected. I ask everyone involved to work together to safeguard, monitor and continuously support the sustainability of this school,” Dimyati said.

He said the school’s presence was important in expanding access to education for children from underprivileged families and expressed hope that its students would grow into a highly capable generation with better prospects for the future.

The construction of SRT 1 Pandeglang is part of Hutama Karya’s support for the development of educational infrastructure and human resources. The initiative is also aligned with the government’s fourth Asta Cita priority, which focuses on strengthening human resource development, including improving the quality and accessibility of education.

Hutama Karya Executive Vice President for Corporate Secretary Hamdani said the construction of SRT 1 Pandeglang reflected the company’s contribution to providing infrastructure that delivers direct benefits to communities.

“Through the construction of Integrated People’s School 1 in Pandeglang Regency, Hutama Karya is supporting the government’s efforts to expand access to education for children from underprivileged families,” Hamdani said.

He expressed hope that the school’s facilities would provide students with a safe and comfortable learning environment while supporting their education, personal development and independence.
