BNEWS.ID – Residents were startled after the discovery of a body found hanging in the swamp area of Embung Sanur on Thursday (13/11/2025). The grim finding was first reported by a fisherman who was active around the location earlier in the afternoon.

The information was immediately forwarded to the Denpasar City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the police. Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, confirmed that his team received the report at around 20.20 WITA.

“Based on the initial information, the body appeared to have been hanging for quite some time. The physical condition was concerning, there was a rope entangled around the victim’s head, and a strong odor was detected in the area,” Sidakarya said.

Upon receiving the report, a five-person rescue team was deployed to Embung Sanur carrying complete SAR equipment. According to Sidakarya, the evacuation process was far from easy, as the body was located deep within a swampy area that was difficult to access.

“It’s possible that nearby residents were reluctant to retrieve the body due to the extreme terrain. Our team also had to cut several trees around the discovery point to open an evacuation path,” he added.

After overcoming various obstacles, the joint SAR team successfully retrieved the body at 21.35 WITA. The remains were transported to RSUP Prof. Ngoerah using a BPBD Denpasar ambulance for further examination.

The joint SAR operation involved multiple agencies, including the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, South Denpasar Police, BPBD Denpasar, IEA SAR volunteers, SAR 115 volunteers, and the Senyap SAR Team.
