Single-Vehicle Crash on By Pass Ida Bagus Mantra Leaves Motorcyclist Dead

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — A fatal traffic accident occurred on By Pass Ida Bagus Mantra in East Denpasar on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) at approximately 2:00 PM WITA, leaving a motorcyclist dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Iyud Sudarmawan (41), a male from Malang, East Java. He was riding a Suzuki FU motorcycle bearing license plate DK 3927 KAR at the time of the incident. He suffered severe head injuries that resulted in his immediate death.

According to witness accounts, the incident happened as they were traveling from east to west along the road. Upon reaching a curve on the northern side, witnesses heard a loud crashing sound.

“I heard a loud ‘bang’ coming from the north. When I checked, I saw the victim already lying on the sidewalk near a banyan tree, with severe head injuries,” said witness Moh Sulaiman.

Another witness, Ardana Fathur Robby Abdilah, added that the victim was found bleeding from the nose, mouth, and head. However, witnesses did not dare to move the victim and immediately contacted the police.

Officers from the East Denpasar Police Unit (UKL Polsek Denpasar Timur) arrived at the scene around 2:15 PM WITA to carry out initial handling. The victim’s motorcycle was later secured by the Traffic Accident Unit (Unit Laka) of Denpasar Police as evidence.

The victim’s body was subsequently evacuated by the Denpasar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to Sanglah General Hospital.

From the preliminary crime scene investigation, the victim was found lying face down with his head facing east, and his helmet detached. Authorities confirmed that the victim died at the scene.

Initial findings suggest that the accident may have been caused by the victim speeding and losing control of the motorcycle while navigating the curve, resulting in a collision with the road barrier or sidewalk.

Police, through the Public Relations Officer of Denpasar Police, stated that the case remains under further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
