BNEWSID – Proud news comes from Bali. Pemuteran Village in Buleleng Regency has once again put Indonesia on the global stage by winning the “Best Tourism Village 2025” award from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

The prestigious award was presented during the Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism 2025 Ceremony & Third Annual Network Meeting held in Huzhou, China, on Friday (October 17, 2025). Pemuteran was recognized as one of the world’s top tourism villages for its success in developing community-based and sustainable tourism.

Alongside Pemuteran, Osing Kemiren Tourism Village from Banyuwangi, East Java, was also selected for the Upgrade Programme of the Best Tourism Villages 2025, competing among 270 tourism villages from 65 countries.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana praised the achievement as solid proof of Indonesia’s growing excellence in managing tourism villages that are now gaining global recognition. She said Pemuteran’s success serves as an inspiration for other villages to maximize their natural and cultural potential while empowering local communities toward inclusive and sustainable tourism.

The award was received by Hariyanto, Deputy for Tourism Destination and Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Tourism, accompanied by representatives from Pemuteran Village, I Gusti Agung Ngurah Kertiyasa and I Ketut Sutrawan Selamet.

Hariyanto explained that the Best Tourism Villages (BTV) initiative by UN Tourism aims to promote tourism as a driver of economic growth and a means to preserve rural environments. He emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening sustainability values so Indonesian tourism villages can continue to serve as global models of positive transformation.

Pemuteran Village is widely known for its stunning marine ecosystem, community-driven coral reef conservation projects, and strong preservation of local wisdom. Through collaboration between residents, local government, and non-governmental organizations, the village has successfully created a balance between tourism and environmental preservation.

Previously, Pemuteran also earned the ASEAN Tourism Standard for Community-Based Tourism (CBT) 2023–2025, reaffirming its consistency as a leading tourism village in Southeast Asia.

This latest achievement continues Indonesia’s string of international tourism village recognitions, following the successes of Nglanggeran (2021), Penglipuran (2023), Jatiluwih (2024), and Wukirsari (2024).

Pemuteran’s accomplishment not only brings pride to Bali but also strengthens Indonesia’s position as a country of world-class tourism villages, rooted in culture, natural beauty, and community well-being. (*)
