BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission III from Bali, Nyoman Parta, has raised concerns over the lack of transparency and progress in the investigation into a drug raid at the New Star (NS) nightclub in Denpasar, noting that only three suspects have been named so far.
Speaking to reporters in Gianyar on Friday afternoon (March 27, 2026), Parta questioned the clarity of the case, which was handled directly by Indonesia’s National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) without apparent coordination with local authorities.

“I observe that the case is becoming increasingly unclear. The drug raid was carried out without the knowledge of local law enforcement in Bali, as it was handled directly by the National Police Headquarters,” he said. He compared the situation to a previous drug laboratory case in Gianyar, which also reportedly bypassed local authorities.
Parta also criticized the lack of progress in the investigation, pointing out that only three individuals have been named as suspects so far: I Wayan Subawa, a room manager; I Gusti Bagus Adi Pramana, a waiter; and M. Rokip, a courier.
“There has been no development at all. The number of suspects remains at three. The broader distribution network and dealers have not been touched,” he said. He suggested investigators should trace suspicious bank accounts, as drug transactions are likely conducted through financial channels.
He further emphasized the need for transparency, urging authorities to disclose updates on the investigation, detention processes, and case developments. “There are strong indications of a larger network. The public deserves to know how far the investigation has progressed,” he added.
Parta warned that limited information could fuel public speculation and stressed the importance of ensuring that all nightlife venues in Bali are free from narcotics. He also called on law enforcement agencies to remain independent and free from business interests linked to nightlife establishments.
“Don’t let one nightclub be heavily targeted while others are left untouched. Law enforcement must be impartial,” he said, also questioning why Bali Police and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Bali were not involved in the operation.
The raid, conducted in the early hours of March 15, 2026, targeted the New Star nightclub located on Jalan Gunung Soputan in West Denpasar. The venue had reportedly been under surveillance by the National Police as a suspected hub for drug trafficking.
During the operation, police secured dozens of individuals, including the nightclub’s manager identified as SB, and seized thousands of ecstasy pills. Authorities suspect the drugs were being distributed from room to room within the club, allegedly with the involvement of management and a broader dealer network.
All individuals detained during the raid were taken to Bali Police headquarters for questioning. However, as of now, authorities have not provided further updates on the number of suspects or the progress of the investigation.
