BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism is stepping up efforts to expand its presence in the Japanese tourism market by participating in Tourism Expo Japan 2026, scheduled to take place from September 24 to 27 at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo.

Deputy Minister for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said the event would provide an opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s diverse destinations and travel experiences while strengthening business ties with Japan’s tourism industry.

“This campaign reflects Indonesia’s commitment to offering meaningful, high-quality and distinctive travel experiences that go beyond ordinary tourism activities,” Made said in Jakarta on Friday (Sept. 18, 2026).

Through the Indonesia Pavilion, the ministry will promote a range of destinations, tourism products and hospitality services under the latest Wonderful Indonesia campaign, “Go Beyond Ordinary.”

Eight representatives from Indonesia’s tourism industry will participate in the exhibition, offering a variety of tourism products and travel packages to the Japanese market.

Adventure Indonesia and Wendy Asia Utama will showcase tourism products and travel experiences, while DMC White Tiger Bali will highlight its expertise in destination management and comprehensive tourism services.

Indonesia’s national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, will represent the transportation sector by promoting its flight services and highlighting the importance of connectivity between Japan and Indonesia in supporting tourist mobility between the two countries.

The accommodation sector will be represented by Kuno Villas, Menjaga Bay Resort, and The Mulia Resort and Villas. The three businesses will present a range of accommodation options, from distinctive villas and nature-oriented stays to premium resorts.

Yoga Barn will also promote Indonesia’s potential as a holistic wellness tourism destination, offering experiences focused on physical fitness and mental relaxation.

While Bali will remain one of the key destinations presented to Japanese visitors, the Ministry of Tourism said the promotion would also encourage travelers to explore destinations beyond the island.

Made said Japanese tourists would be introduced to a wider range of destinations and travel experiences across Indonesia. The approach is intended to broaden travel options and reduce the concentration of Japanese tourist visits on destinations that are already widely known.

The Indonesia Pavilion will also facilitate business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Indonesian tourism companies and Japanese travel agencies, tour operators and other industry stakeholders.

The business meetings are expected to provide opportunities for Indonesian tourism businesses to establish partnerships, expand marketing networks and introduce travel packages tailored to the characteristics of the Japanese market.

Beyond business and destination promotion, the pavilion will offer visitors opportunities to experience Indonesia’s cultural and culinary heritage.

Traditional dance performances will be staged at scheduled times, while Indonesian coffee from various producing regions will be served by local baristas.

The Ministry of Tourism said the combination of cultural performances, coffee, nature, culinary experiences and wellness offerings was designed to present a broader picture of Indonesia as a destination offering diverse and high-quality tourism experiences.

“Through Tourism Expo Japan 2026, the Ministry of Tourism seeks to strengthen partnerships with Japan’s tourism industry, promote Indonesian destinations beyond Bali, and encourage Japanese travelers to embrace the spirit of ‘Go Beyond Ordinary’ by exploring the diverse tourism experiences Indonesia has to offer,” Made said.
