BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — The Indonesian government is strengthening cross-agency coordination, institutional capacity and infrastructure connectivity to accelerate the development of the Rebana Area in West Java after completing a two-year technical cooperation project with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The completion of the cooperation was marked by the Final Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting for the Project for Rebana Area Development which is related to Patimban International Port in Jakarta on Tuesday (Sept. 29, 2026).

Acting Deputy for Industry, Employment and Tourism Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Dida Gardera, said the Rebana Area has the potential to become a major growth center and a catalyst for economic development at both the provincial and national levels.

“The Rebana Area has significant potential to become a growth pole and a catalyst for accelerating economic development from the provincial to the national level,” Dida said.

He stressed that successful development of the area would require more than sound planning, including effective coordination among government institutions, strong commitment from local governments and consistent policy implementation.

The two-year Indonesia-JICA cooperation produced several strategic planning documents, including an updated Rebana Area Master Plan focusing on industrial integration and logistics connectivity.

The cooperation also resulted in a specific development plan for a Green Industry Hub and guidelines for an Eco-Industrial Park, providing a framework for accelerating the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable industrial areas.

Institutional strengthening and investment promotion strategies were also key components of the cooperation. The strategies were designed to improve the Rebana Area’s attractiveness to domestic and international investors, particularly those supporting future-oriented industrial ecosystems.

Investment Reaches Rp131.62 Trillion

The development of the Rebana Area has also been supported by infrastructure projects under the government’s National Strategic Projects (PSN) program.

There are 12 PSNs in the area, of which eight have been completed. The completed projects include dams, toll-road access and the development of strategic industrial areas.

The infrastructure development has contributed to investment growth in the region. Investment realization in the Rebana Area from 2021 through the first half of 2026 reached Rp131.62 trillion, according to the government.

The investment has generated approximately 320,446 jobs.

Going forward, the government plans to accelerate the area’s transformation toward green industry. The development is also expected to be supported by the preparation of a draft Industrial Areas Bill.

JCC Approves Post-Project Action Plan

At the final meeting, all JCC members formally approved the Project Completion Report and the Action Plan for the post-project period.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs said it would continue to oversee implementation of the Rebana Area Master Plan in cooperation with the West Java provincial government, the Rebana Area Management Agency (BP Rebana), local governments and other stakeholders.

The ministry also expressed its appreciation to the Japanese government through JICA for its technical support throughout the project.

The Final JCC Meeting was attended by the Secretary of the West Java Provincial Government, the head of BP Rebana, representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies, representatives of the JICA Indonesia Office, as well as JCC members from ministries, agencies and local governments across the Rebana Area.

The government is positioning stronger institutional coordination, infrastructure connectivity and green industrial development as key components in transforming the Rebana Area into an integrated and competitive center of economic growth.
