BALINEWSID.COM, ACEH TENGAH – Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of Lumut Bridge in Lumut Village, Linge District, Central Aceh Regency, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, as the government seeks to accelerate the recovery of critical infrastructure supporting connectivity along the national Takengon–Isé-Isé road.

During the visit, Gibran received a briefing on the rehabilitation project and inspected the construction work directly at the site. The project, being carried out by state-owned construction company PT Hutama Karya (Persero), has reached 40 percent completion.

The rehabilitation involves a jacking method to raise the bridge structure by 1.5 meters using hydraulic jacks. The work also includes structural repairs, railing rehabilitation, and repainting of the steel structure.

Lumut Bridge is a 30-meter-long steel truss bridge with a width of seven meters. It serves as an important transportation link for local communities, logistics distribution, economic activities and public services in Central Aceh and surrounding areas.

The bridge was affected by flooding after the Lumut River overflowed in early 2025. The rehabilitation is intended not only to restore the bridge but also to improve its resilience against potential flooding in the future.

The Ministry of Public Works, through the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN Aceh), assigned Hutama Karya to carry out the rehabilitation in accordance with established technical specifications.

Gibran was accompanied during the inspection by Central Aceh Regent Haili Yoga, Deputy Regent Muchsin Hasan, Central Aceh Regional House of Representatives Speaker Fitriana Mugie, officials from BPJN Aceh, and Hutama Karya Project Manager for the emergency response works on the Simpang Uning–Takengon City Boundary–Central Aceh/Gayo Lues Boundary section, Azhar Mustafa.

Hutama Karya Acting Executive Vice President for Corporate Secretary Hamdani said the Vice President’s visit provided additional motivation for the project team to maintain construction quality while accelerating completion.

“The Vice President’s visit demonstrates the government’s attention to accelerating improvements in infrastructure quality that directly benefit the community,” Hamdani said.

He added that Hutama Karya remains committed to completing the rehabilitation in accordance with technical specifications while prioritizing construction quality, workplace safety and timely completion.

The rehabilitation is expected to improve the bridge’s resilience to flooding, enhance safety and comfort for road users, and restore the bridge’s optimal function as a key link along the Takengon–Isé-Isé national road.

The improved connectivity is also expected to support smoother public mobility, logistics distribution, public services and economic activity in Central Aceh and neighboring areas.

Hutama Karya said it would continue coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works, BPJN Aceh and other stakeholders to ensure the project progresses according to target.

The company said the rehabilitation is part of broader government efforts to accelerate quality infrastructure development, strengthen interregional connectivity and promote more balanced development as part of the national development agenda.

Hutama Karya is a state-owned enterprise responsible for strategic infrastructure projects, including toll roads, bridges, buildings and regional development. The company is also involved in the development and management of major infrastructure projects such as the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road.
