BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has officially launched a special Immigration Patrol Task Force, dubbed “Dharma Dewata,” in Bali on Wednesday, aiming to tighten supervision and crack down on problematic foreign nationals across the island.

The establishment of the task force marks a strategic move to strengthen immigration oversight and maintain stability and security in one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations.

Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, emphasized that the formation of the task force is not merely ceremonial, but is expected to deliver tangible results for the public.

“We want to ensure that concrete measures are implemented moving forward, and those preparations are already in place,” Hendarsam told reporters.

The Dharma Dewata Task Force will conduct regular patrols in areas considered prone to immigration violations. Hendarsam underlined that immigration functions go beyond administrative services.

“Our primary goal is not only to provide services but also to safeguard national security—even sovereignty,” he said.

To enhance effectiveness, the Immigration Office will collaborate with the Bali Provincial Government and Bali Regional Police in monitoring foreign nationals. Previously, immigration authorities also introduced the PIMPASA (Immigration Community Guidance Officers) program, placing officers at the village level as a preventive measure.

“This is a preventive approach. At every immigration office, we aim to have personnel assigned to assisted villages to strengthen collaboration,” he added.

Data from January 1 to April 12, 2026, shows that Bali Immigration has carried out 165 deportations and 62 detentions as part of its law enforcement efforts.

Hendarsam called on the public to support the initiative, stressing its broader mission.

“We ask for the support of all Balinese people. Our goal is clear—immigration for the people, immigration for Bali,” he concluded.
