House of Representatives Urges Closure of Bali Nightclubs Over Alleged Drug Trafficking

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A member of Commission III of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI), I Nyoman Parta, has called for the closure of three nightlife venues in Denpasar and Badung Regency following police raids that uncovered alleged drug trafficking activities.

The proposal was delivered during a Working Meeting (Raker) and Hearing (RDP) between Commission III and the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), along with the Director of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), on Tuesday (April 7, 2026).

The establishments in question—New Star Club, Delona Vista, and N Co-Living—were raided by Bareskrim Polri between March and April 2026.

Nyoman Parta stated that findings from the raids indicate the venues were not merely operating as entertainment spots but were also used as locations for narcotics transactions.

“Therefore, we urge Bareskrim to immediately send a formal recommendation to the regional governments of Denpasar and Badung to shut down these venues, as they have been used for illegal drug transactions,” he said.

During the operations, authorities seized evidence including ecstasy pills and methamphetamine. A total of 12 individuals have been named as suspects, several of whom remain at large. Meanwhile, 48 others have undergone rehabilitation through the Bali Provincial BNN.

Parta also highlighted the increasingly sophisticated methods used in drug distribution networks, calling for a stronger and more coordinated response from both the government and law enforcement agencies.

He further emphasized the need for updated regulations on narcotics-related crimes, as well as institutional strengthening of both Bareskrim Polri and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

“There must be stronger institutional capacity within BNN and an enhanced role for Bareskrim to address the growing complexity of drug trafficking,” he concluded.
