BALINEWSID.COM, PEKANBARU – Subdit I of the Riau Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, in cooperation with the Kampar Police Narcotics Unit, has uncovered a suspected drug storage warehouse in Pekanbaru and arrested a 42-year-old man identified by his initials, YY.

Riau Police Narcotics Investigation Director Kombes Pol Putu Yudha Prawira said the operation followed information received by officers about a suspected narcotics warehouse on Air Dingin Street, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru.

“After conducting an investigation, the joint team identified a rented house suspected of being used as a drug storage facility. Officers arrested the suspect and seized a number of narcotics from the location,” Putu said on Friday (July 24).

The arrest was carried out on Tuesday (June 30) at around noon. During a search of the first rented house, officers discovered several packages of narcotics.

Based on information provided by YY, officers then searched another rented house allegedly used to store additional narcotics.

From the two locations, police seized four packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing approximately four kilograms in total, 48,411 ecstasy pills, 21 packages of ecstasy powder and fragments weighing around 535 grams, 322 cartridges containing etomidate, and 729 Happy Five pills.

Based on preliminary questioning, YY allegedly served as a courier responsible for collecting, storing, distributing and delivering the illegal drugs on the orders of his alleged boss.

YY reportedly told investigators that he had worked as a drug courier for more than a year. Police also found indications that proceeds from the illegal activity had been used to purchase cars and motorcycles.

Police are continuing to pursue the alleged mastermind behind the drug operation and are expanding the investigation to uncover the wider network involved.

Authorities also plan to apply Indonesia’s money laundering law, known as the TPPU, to trace and seize assets allegedly obtained from the proceeds of drug trafficking.

YY and all seized evidence are currently being held at Riau Police headquarters as the investigation continues.
