Chinese National Deported from Bali for Working as Project Supervisor

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Denpasar Immigration Office deported a 29-year-old Chinese national identified by the initials JZ after he was found working as a project supervisor in Bali while holding a Visa on Arrival (VoA).

JZ was found to have engaged in project supervision activities that were not permitted under his visit visa. A VoA allows foreign nationals to stay in Indonesia for tourism and other permitted visit purposes, but does not authorize employment.

The deportation was carried out under Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, which authorizes immigration officials to take action against foreign nationals who violate Indonesian laws and regulations or whose activities are considered to threaten public order or security.

On Monday, September 7, 2026, officers from the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division of the Denpasar Immigration Office escorted JZ to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to ensure the deportation process was carried out in accordance with immigration procedures.

JZ departed Bali at 6:15 p.m. on flights MU7406 and MU5323, traveling from Denpasar to Shanghai and then Changsha, China.

Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office R. Haryo Sakti said all foreign nationals staying in Indonesia are required to comply with the country’s laws and regulations.

“Immigration monitoring and enforcement against violations will continue to be carried out firmly, proportionately and in accordance with applicable laws,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Ramdhani praised the Denpasar Immigration Office for taking action against the violation.

He stressed that violations committed by foreign nationals would be dealt with in accordance with the law as part of the government’s efforts to maintain security and public order in Bali and provide legal certainty for the community.
